Microfiction Monday

It's Microfiction Monday over at stony river. We are invited to write a short, short story in 140 characters or less (including punctuation and spacing).

The King could not keep her from the comfort of memory as she closed her eyes to chase childhood butterflies. She did not hear each brick.

Enjoy your Monday!

Many days I too would like to 'close my eyes to chase childhood butterflies'! Thanks for this--I loved it, even though it is sad.

Cheers!

You took me there in 140 characters, and I'm happier for it. Lovely.

I love the final line...you turn things upside down with it...and I love this sense of defiant independence...extraordinary characterization with just a few words! Bravo!!! ~Janine XO

So much said in a few words. Very well done.

It's interesting to me that every one of these is about the woman being walled in. None is from the perspective of the waller. And none see her as being rescued. Poor girl has no control over her fate :)

Beautifully written, as always. It makes me think of all the wonderful memories that I am also able to cling to.
