What Am I Doing in Times Square at Midnight?

This lifelong New Yorker looked like a tourist last night. My husband and I enjoyed a night of theater and kids-free relaxation in NYC. Now when I say theater, you may think that oh so cultured me (I'm laughing for you at the thought) is referring to a Masterpiece Theater type production. Actually, it was the Never Too Old To Rock me who enjoyed the 80's tribute musical Rock of Ages. What a dynamic, fun show that literally almost knocked us out of our seats with an earthquake of rockin' guitars and with a good tremor or two of raunchy humor. Whether he admits it or not, I'm sure my husband enjoyed the scantily-clad dancers swinging their 80's hair around.

I loved singing along to "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "Wanted Dead or Alive." I think those two songs could work as my personal anthems during the job hunt. Quick clarification for the "Wanted Dead or Alive" reference. Even a dead end job sounds good to us now :)

My lovely friend, Sue, gave us a voucher for these two free tickets. We were happily surprised to see that we got orchestra seats, although my husband swears that those seats are made for tiny people like Jillian.

Here's a quick clip to give you an idea about the show. It may not be Shakespeare, but it is definitely a show that gets your attention and keeps you awake!

Thanks again Sue! You're the best!

How wonderful for you. What no poem to commemorate such an experience?

I am glad you had a nice evening with just the two of you - very well deserved.

Color me green with envy! Makes me want to hop on a plane. No live theater in rural Eastern Oregon! I have to make do with the county fair and an occassional rodeo...and they always have country (ugh!) music. Gotta love rock 'n roll!

Amazing... 80's hair bands were bit cheezy but they were also awesome.. We're Not Gonna Take It" is one of my favorite songs, a song that inspire me to go out and fight the sick coropate world!Q
