Home too long

I know I've been home too long with the kids when...
  1. I'm still watching a Scooby-Doo movie after my little one fell asleep. You think I would run over and finally watch the Grey's Anatomy finale. I still don't know what happened.

  2. I pay way too much attention to that exercise dynamo Sportacus from Lazytown. There is something about that guy from Iceland:)

  3. I answered the door wearing 4 oddly placed ponytails. Beauty parlor play time.

  4. I did not freak when I saw my kids' use my favorite poetry anthology as a coaster. At least, they thought about keeping the table clean for once.

  5. I let my two, tired, bored kids tie me up with a jump rope to kill time at an exceptionally long soccer practice. They enjoyed watching Mommy squirm; I enjoyed the whining free moment.
When I get around to looking in the mirror, I probably would wonder where the old Kelly is hiding. Maybe she is crouched, hiding next to the table, listening to 1, 2, 3, ....ready or not, here I come, Mommy!

HAHA! Oh man! Once I was with a couple friends and I blankly gave one of them one of those cheesy open-mouthed grins while nodding with my eyebrows up high and everything... Later I acknowledged I was a mother of babies and I no longer knew how to offer encouragement without the "Yay! Clap your hands!" reaction... :)

You've got an award waiting at my blog- but I think you already got that one. So congrats again and it's the thought that counts. :)

Girl, you make me laugh!!! I'm ashamed to admit I watched ole Spartacus a bit too long myself. :)

LOL! Oh, you really spoke to my heart when you said at least they were thinking about keeping the table clean when they used the poetry book as a coaster.
And I once watched an entire Veggie Tales video while my son played and ignored it. And I so laughed my butt off ... if that makes you feel like your in good(???) company!

I am still laughing - love that they grabbed the paper for a coaster. And I'd love to see those 4 pony tails!

You're a good sport to let your kids tie you up! For the longest time I didn't wear nice shirts around Moe because he would always wipe his hands or mouth on my shirt!

You are awesome at putting up with the little ones...sometimes those shows aren't half bad. When my cousin comes over, we watch Noggin. I like the educational ones. For example, I learned a few things about animals from Diego (sad but true lol).

So many Mommy moments! I love how you watched Scooby over Grey's. When my oldest was an infant, I used to get excited over new episodes of the Wonder Pets. :)

This was the cutest post I've read in a long time. How lucky you are to have time with your kids. I had to work when mine was young ... it was the nursery that had all the fun.

Just thought I'd pop by and say hi - great post. Yep, I too end up watching more children's tv than even the children. It's when I find myself answering the questions on Dora out loud long after my little ones have left the room that I really start to worry!

I keep finding myself singing along to kids songs when there are no kids around. Definitely not a good sign.

This made me laugh out loud - the ponytails and the jump rope prison. I've often found myself continuing to listen to Raffi and singing along long after I've dropped Deaglan off at the daycare. Thanks for the glimpse into your life - I think we can all definitely relate!

IMHO Scooby Doo is a pretty good show. It's right up there with SpongeBob. Besides, you DON"T want to watch the season finale of Grey's. Trust me. It will haunt you. Walk away now while you have the chance. I'm being totatly serious. There is definately something about Spartacus and I've been to the bus stop with four ponytails and pink hair. We should go out like that for mom's night out...LOL

These are the best times, immersed in your children's lives. How wonderful that you are enjoying them, I'm sure your kids love it too!

Septembermom,
This was a great post and hilarious! I will tell one on myself that happened over the weekend. I submitted a photo for an exhibit here in Evansville...it was one of those hoyt toyty (spelling) museum things. So I put on some better pants than my normal jeans and donned a new tee shirt to deliver the picture. Feeling good about the whole thing, when I got home, my wife told me to go look in the mirror...I had my nice new Tee shirt on inside out! Tag sticking out in plain view in the back and the whole thing.

I am going to have my wife pick up the Framed photo after the exhibit...I can't show my face!

Oh I can so explain the Scooby-Doo thing. Scooby-Doo is actually pretty entertaining to watch. AND you can watch the Greys Anatomy finale online for free at your own convenience. I totally get it :)

So true!! It usually takes at least 20 minutes after Lulu gets out of the car for me to realize I'm still singing along with the Wiggles or Elmo. SINGING ALONG. If I even notice at all...

So funny, so true! And nothing says home with the kids too long than enjoying a glass of wine in a "Diego" decorated sippy cup.

I know it's not the same, but since I'm not an official mommy (I have 2 stepkids), Puppy has taken the place of any real kid. Now when I offer anyone a cookie at work, it becomes: "Do you want a cookie? Who want's a cookie?! Who's a good boy??!!"

Funny and so true. I have to remind myself at times to cherish these moments because time has a way of flying by.

LOL, sounds like fun to me. But I must agree, time for some adult Mommy-time. Thanks for the well wishes too. :)

I just loved this!!! I can relate so much ... except I don't get to play beauty parlor! But I have been tied up with a jumprope and I have been known to wear a bear backpack when we go "exploring" in the "jungle" in the house (near the plant table). And I know that Spartucus guy .. he has a great body and if you just shaved off that mustache he would be quite hot!! : )
