Friday High Five

Hooray, it's Friday! Let's play along with Angela, over at Angela's Adventures and Minor Mishaps, for Friday High Five. Run over to Angela's blog to join in the fun!

LOOK WHAT MY KIDS SAID THIS WEEK
  1. "I wanna kiss a girl." - my 6 year old son. Don't jump out of your seats! He was just singing along with Kris Allen on American Idol. My son loves music, and easily becomes obsessed with a song. I think he has watched the American Idol finale about 20 times.

  2. "Mom, I don't want to watch all girl movies." - my 9 year old son. My poor boy had to hunt through bunches of DVDs to try and find a movie that would meet his princess sister's approval. She insists that every character has to be a girl. Can you believe that he somehow got her to watch X-Men? She said that she liked watching the "girl X-Men fight the bad guys". Her brothers were happy that they didn't have to watch "My Little Pony".

  3. "Mom, what hockey team do you want to be on?" - my 12 year old son. He loves the NHL. He decided to set up a kind of fantasy hockey league and draw up an "on paper" tournmanent. It kept the boys busy for an hour or two. I was on the Buffalo Sabres, by the way. My team almost made it to the finals!

  4. "Don't you miss your Mommy?" - my 3 year old daughter said to me. To my daughter, all girls should always be with their Mommies. She doesn't understand why I don't live with my Mommy anymore. She finds mommies for everything. Once we were peeling carrots, she wanted one big carrot and one little carrot so she could play with them as mommy and baby. When my Mom comes to visit, my daughter will most likely ask her to move in with us. Let's see how Mom fields that question coming from her concerned granddaughter. Get your bags ready, Mom!

  5. "Come on guys! Let Mom watch her show." - my 12 year old son. My two middle boys were battling about something while "So You Think You Can Dance" was on. It' s the one show that I get hooked on every season. I appreciate my 12 year old's thoughtfulness at that moment. I had a rough week, so I guess he knew that I needed to escape watching some amazing, and some hilarious dance auditions. I think I got to watch 15 minutes. My rambunctious middle boys needed a referee. So glad that I have the DVR.
Enjoy your Friday!

Those are great! I love that your daughter thinks Moms and daughters should be together. And - how sweet is your 12 year old to be thinking of you!

Very thoughtful quotes there, your children sound so nice. And it seems like you really enjoy their company, as much as they enjoy yours. Have a great weekend with them!

Lol. I loved these. Kids do say the funniest things don't they? My 4 year old had a time when she was singing 'I kissed a girl and I liked it'. That's when I learned that she was really paying attention to the morning radio shows as I much as I did lol!

I think it's sweet that your 12 year old was advocating for you to be able to watch your show. That's so sweet!

And I remember those days when my mom was my world. I can remember worrying all the time she would die and I would be without my mom. I'm so glad she's still around. It is interesting how eventually I grew up and didn't need her every step of the way. I do love being my little one's mom!

Kids sure can say some funny things. Your children sound too sweet especially that little girl of yours!

What is it with girls and Mommies and babies. My girls are the same way. Anything with one big one and one little one, becomes a Mommy and a baby.

:) This gave me a smile on a sick day. Thanks! I look forward to the many things my kids will say...

I agree...all girls should be with their mommies. Mine has passed on and I miss her dearly.
Kudos to your son for honoring your SYTYCD need!

Oh it is SO all about the DVR :) How did we ever live without it?

And if it makes you feel any better, Mister Man (5) walks around singing "I kissed a girl and I liked it!" over and over and over again. What can ya do? :)

Have your kids ever watched Never Ending Story? I swear we watched it a bizzilion times when the boys were little. And Hook! We can all still recite lines from that one today! No kidding!
Your children sound like big hearted people. You've done a good job!
And for your 12 yr old to stand up for you...priceless!

Just catching up with the week's happenings. So sorry to hear the bully boys are still causing trouble! Hope they grow up soon.

Loved both your poems this week. "Connect" was beautiful: as my Dad is very frail, the last couplet just shook me up! The poem about watching over your sleeping son was very poignant.

Laughed at the things your kids did. No 4 is my favourite!

That's awesome, I just love the things kids say, and it seems like the fun things they say never ends. I certainly hope my 2 year old doesn't grow out of her funny ramblings! Haha.

I have a friend who has a scrap book filled with the things her kids said at different ages. I'll bet you could fill one up easily. It kills me that you're oldest is so thoughtful. He reminds me of Shaune when he was growing up - not that I knew him - but I hear stories all the time of how he always defended his mom - he had three sisters who were always taking out their frustrations on their mom.

I think it must be so good for the three boys to have this pink spot of Jillian. She sounds like she can whip them into shape in her sweet little way.
