With paintbrush in hand, she ventures forth

My walls are screaming for paint.  A spring painting project has to be on my agenda over the next month or so.  The walls are in so so shape.  My husband is not thrilled with the idea of wall repair.  I told him that I'll turn all Martha Stewart and see what I can do during my kid free time (a whopping 3 hours in the morning) assuming that I have a demonstration beforehand.  Over the past 10 years, I have been accumulating art prints and eclectic paintings to cover my walls.  They have served 2 purposes: my visual enjoyment and my creative way to hide beat up walls.  So here is the question:  Will my husband let me hang back up my pseudo art gallery or will he complain that I'm putting too many holes in the new paint job?  It should be an interesting husband and wife moment during that discussion.  Hmmm, maybe I should tell him that we could squeeze them onto our bedroom walls.  Poor guy, didn't know he had to juggle all my art obsession in that better or worse vow part.

I love my friends that have art/pictures on their walls. I have NOTHING on my walls. I am soo uncreative when it comes to decorating! I'm sure your dear husband will give you a place on the walls to surround yourself with art :)

I have a couple of pictures that were especially painted for my late husband. It's very comforting looking at them.

Thanks for your long visit to my blog and the lovely comments, always pleased to see you.

Hi Septembermom, you should go wild and paint those walls. Turn your house into an art gallery and blog about it! Good luck!!

We have art all over the house - it does make me smile quite a lot. ALL our walls are white - ALL. It breaks up the white and really emphasized the art.

That's a lot of work for you. I know you take a break for you (and some chocolate) during your free time, too.

Look at it this way, Kelly, the more art pictures you hang the less need to repaint the walls. Just kidding, of course. I was thrilled to read that you actually have three hours available; how did you manage that?

I was gobsmacked when I saw ALL your comments on my blog. Thank you so much for taking the time to read so many posts. I love it when you visit.

Go for it! But maybe, instead of hanging other people's art, you could get creative with your painting and turn your walls into works of art. That would solve the nail-hole problem...

You're a brave lady. Painting is SOOOO not my thing. At all. I'm a wimp. That said, have you seen the 3M hangars that are sticky and use velcro and don't damage walls? We've used them, and they ROCK.

Bare walls are not a good thing!! Everyone needs some art!

And I've been banned from painting in our house. If you need to know my secret, I'll share it with you.

Kelly, I hope he is ok with it. I've been adding more art to our home too. I think it's an outward expression of you, beautiful YOU!! xo

I vote for art on the walls! they have those wall hangers that don't use nails and come off without tearing the plaster. I forget who makes them.

I'm decorating the house that I just recently moved into and because I'm pretty poor I'm thinking of doing something like painting three walls white/cream and having a feature wall in a nice color but because I can't afford or even put up nice wallpaper I was going to put stencils of butterflies etc on it to add some interest and then pick up the color is pieces of art I will paint myself and hang up on the plain walls. I think a home is all about showing your personality and making it yours so I say go for putting the art on the walls!! :)
