Just another random morning

I feel that need to go all random with my blog today.  So here goes.
  • Camp Kelly is in full swing, and I'm one tired camp counselor this morning.  We haven't had a vacation since 2006.  Once a stable job comes, I can't wait to pack my suitcase for anywhere.  The kids always ask about going somewhere, going anywhere.  I'm so glad that we have the town pool.  We get a lot of use out of that pool pass.  Hopefully, we'll get lucky soon with a job, and we can plan a little getaway maybe next year.

  • I have an article deadline every Tuesday morning.  I tend to get my article done (inspiration and writing) in 30 minutes.  I write about parenting issues for yorktown.patch.com. No pay for these articles yet.  However, my writing resume is growing.  If you google me, a good number of pages come up about my article writing.  I'm hoping that some supplemental income will come our way through my writing one day.

  • I want my sons to crack open those math workbooks this summer.  I keep emphasizing to them that 30 minutes a day will make a big difference when they go back to school in September.

  • I miss blogging.  I can tell that there is something missing when I don't get to visit all of you.  The job hunt, job brainstorming, writing those unpaid articles, and keeping the kids entertained is really keeping me busy these days.

  • I'm planning on putting up that karaoke vlog post with my kids' help this weekend.  They think that I should sing Lady Gaga (like that would happen) instead of Elvis!
I'll try to visit you all soon.  It will be a hot one here in NY today.  Enjoy your day :)

We miss you too!

Summertime is busy when you have school age children.

Wishing you a good day.

Sending good thoughts and prayers for the right job for you!

So good to see you pop up in my google reader! You are dearly missed, but its completely understandable how full the plate gets during the summer. We are postponing our big trip, its always something it seems that causes us to stay put, but one day we'll both travel again... Stay cool!

I appreciate your visit to my blog all the more knowing how busy you are. I wondered, does your family ever go camping? It's a cheap way of enjoying the outdoors especially if it's somewhere new. Keep smiling, Kelly, you're doing a grand job.

I love your random thought posts! I am so sorry it has been so long since you have been able to do a real vacation. Sometimes getting away for a while can make a load of difference. My son has several friends who have more entertainment income (is that a nice way of putting it?) than we do and he was always lamenting that they get to do vacations and we don't. (Ours are usually wrapped into visiting sick family members.) We started doing more free activities (concerts, swim days, parades and picnics) and we called them "vacation days." When his friends start talking about going to this resort or that theme park for their vacation, my son is able to say "Yeah on our vacation we went to the lake." Even though it only cost us $5 for the day pass at the lake, along with picnic food, he doesn't feel so left out.

Also, that's great that you're a mom who is on top of things with the math. As a teacher, I can tell you that much of the first few weeks of school involves re-teaching things they learned last year, but have forgotten over the summer. Kudos to you for helping them realize that it will make a big difference.

Still praying for success on the job front. You're so right about non-paying writing jobs still being good for the resume. Still waiting for that book of poetry. :)

All my relatives in NY are saying it's so hot today--hope you guys stay cool!

This summer has been hectic for a lot of people, myself included. I've had a hard time visiting blogs, too--life is busy!

Congrats on the articles--I hope that you start getting paid for doing writing, too.

Yes, thank goodness for town pools! Especially in all the heat you're getting. 61* & raining here on the coast of Oregon. If we could only share the weather, we'd probably both be very comfortable!

When I saw your article on Twitter yesterday I was so excited for you, thinking you had a paying gig. Rats! Well, keep up the great work and I'm sure something good is bound to come from it. Hang in there!!

We, too, haven't done the vacation thing in a while. But as you could see, we really enjoyed the stay-cation. Maybe try that - take the kids to the city and see a museum or something like that.

So wonderful that you are writing! I cannot wait to read more!

It's good to do a brain dump every now and then to clear your head. I hope you get to go somewhere spectacular for your next vacation and I hope it happens soon. If you sing Lady Gaga you have to don a wig and a crazy costume, but sing in a spatula and call yourself Mommy Gaga

I feel for you Kelly! I am getting so tired of the pool days...

Okay, now don't listen to the kids and do Gaga, please! LOL!

I've been feeling that missing thing too lately with no time for blogging. I'm sending you a great big hug for all that you do for your family. One day when your kids have their own families they will be amazed by all you did!

We looooooove the pool pass. It's awesome.

And the workbooks? Little Miss has to do 4 pages every day and Mister Man 8. Even if it takes 3 hours. *sigh*
