Here is a Flash Fiction (55 words) inspired by this painting. Thank you for reading!
See you all soon :)
“Maria, do they want to strip the breath of creativity away from a woman?” She emptied her thoughts upon a sister who tried to tear through the cold and penalizing judgment of others. Words taunted Giselle continually with potential life. The imposed existence of silence and servitude would incarcerate her more than those asylum walls.

Very interesting interpretation of the painting Kelly. I thought of it as quite romantic until I read your take and then when I looked again, it looked dark and dangerous. The power of words to shape the imagination!

I enjoy these sort of post. wonderful to read.
Have a nice day.
Yvonne.
That was rather powerful for only 55 words. Nice job.
I missed reading these while I was gone! I love reading what your creative mind comes up with. Great job! :)
Nice!!!
I've been trying to comment on this all afternoon. Naveen is obsessed with the laptop. He just loves to punch the keys and because it's window's vista and I have no idea how to undo something once it's done...him being so cute doesn't help. I loved this Kelly. You've managed to make me feel like I know these characters even with this limited number of words.
I always enjoy your insight into these illustrations and paintings. Thank you.
Beautiful Flash 55...the silence of creativy and expression is always a terrible threat. This is quite thought provoking Septembermom.
yikes, that was stout..
Hmmm-- that was pretty creative. I was trying to figure out the picture before I read what you wrote. Your interpretation makes sense.

We have to get out of this place. They won't give us any clothes to wear, just these old fashioned night shirts. {*grin*}
Fun meme to write a story around a painting. My daughter brings notebooks to museums and does that for fun too. We saw some lovely Sargents at the new American wing at the MFA in Boston, the subject for next week's blog post.
I don't know how you do it. I want to live in your brain for a day.
Amen Sister!!
