Memories, memories

I can't keep back these memorable one liners from my past. Can you guess what event was happening at the time? If I get too cryptic, I'll give an explanation for each one.

"Why are you nudging me?"

"The window of opportunity has passed."

"He'll probably have big ears and get stuck."

"I don't care what Mr. Huxtable has to say right now."

Any guesses? Alright, here comes the answer key.

"Why are you nudging me?" said by my groggy husband 14 years ago. I said, "Baby time."

"The window of opportunity has passed," said by the labor and delivery nurse. She followed with "Sorry, but we didn't think you would get to 9 cm in 3 hours. No pain meds now."

"He'll probably have big ears and get stuck," said by my husband during 3 hours of pushing.

"I don't care what Mr. Huxtable has to say right now," said by me through clenched teeth. My husband loved to give me the Cosby show commentary at the wrong contracting moment.

You guessed it! I officially became a mama 14 years ago. Happy Birthday to my biggest boy! He enjoys being taller than me :)

FYI - I got picked to be a juror and the trial is underway, so my visits to all of you may be sporadic. I will be coming by this weekend to say hello.

Write With Pictures note: If you get the chance, please drop by WWP to say hello to our new contributing photographer, Amy from A Nest for All Seasons. She is an amazing photographer and I invite you to check out her debut photograph for your inspiration over at Write With Pictures.

Thanks everyone! By the way, does anyone know if there is a Cosby show rerun on tonight??

Great one liners! My favorite is "The window of opportunity has passed." I would have strangled the person nearest me if that was me in labor.
Anyway, Happy birthday to your boy!

I love how you did this! Most creative birthday post ever! And, of course, happy birthday to your big boy!

And jury duty ... woo hee. I served once (on a drug case) and it was intersting but fortunately only lasted 2 days.

I try not to think about the "passed windows of opportunity", it might make me sad! :)

Hi Kelly

Happy Birthday #1!

I got picked for jury duty 22 years ago - we were told the case could last 6 months! In the end it lasted 6 weeks. Half way through the nice judge let us have a day off so I could go to the hospital with my wife for our first baby scan :) (well they needed a day to sort out some legal technicalities, but I did ask for time off first! lol)

Have a great weekend

:Dom

That was a neat and funky little tribute to your son.

Funny how we remember details of certain events with such clarity.

GAH! I missed your son's birthday. GAH! *kicks self* OUCH

I am so sorry, bff. (Love what your hubby said. Funny.)

I hate those words when a baby is coming: "No pain meds now." Bummer. ;)

Happy late birthday to your son. Tell him he's got ONE cool mama. ;)

I'm amazed that you remember all that - but oh how funny. I love how you have a good sense of humor, even ... then. And yes, the Huxtable comment is still funny to me. :)
