Here is my 55 word Friday Flash Fiction inspired by this lovely painting:
Gingerly, she retreated to her blossoms when his bellows crowded out the self she kept close. With delicate attention, Daphne cradled each petal and dreamed of those calm moments soothing the infant that would soon grace their lives. Daphne ached for motherhood to strengthen her resolve to quiet the storms building in their young marriage.
Thank you for reading! It's a great Friday because I have another wonderfully talented photographer joining me for Fridays Poetry at Write With Pictures. Please stop by to see the amazing photographs shared by Margaret over at Art Happens 365 (photography & poetry) and my writing blog, Write With Pictures.
Hope to visit you all today! The kids are home due to another snow day :) Help!!!

Heaven help you with the house full and snowed in. Put them to work doing chores!
A big punch in such a short tale...will visit the photo site..
I love how you do this... I stare and I stare sometimes without a single idea coming to mind- let alone a whole storyline. You. Are. Brilliant. The end...
Oooo that gave me the shivers. I can only imagine being in a place like that - and I hope I never am.
I am freakin' jealous you had another snow day;)
That passage is wonderful! That would be an interesting book to read. Think about it....:)
I love your Flash Fiction Fridays! Don't ever stop. :)
Sending Peaceful Snow Day vibes to you right now.
I had a snow day, too, but being a teacher, there's something in it for me ;)
Regarding the content of your post ... wow : ) I always feel guilty when I start to interpret paintings (and even poetry, although this never happens with prose) because I feel like I'm taking away from what the artist (or poet) meant to him or herself.
Your piece has given me hope that I can still the voice of doubt and guilt :-) Nicely done!
Tremendous! I long to read the entire story!
Blessings!

Oh no Daphne!! I fear for her. Amazing job in just 55 words!
You've topped the lot with this one, Kelly. It's a superb piece of writing.

oh nicely done...great to see you at 55s...i feel this...i will say the first few years were hard, adjusting to rhythms...i wonder though if having a kid will add to or smooth...hard question...
You did a wonderful post for FFF! Yes, a whole story in a paragraph!
I would love to know where you find your paintings...so beautiful!
Kelly, love this, girlfriend. Daphne sounds like a wonderful character for a novel. (After you write the boy books.) They MUST come first. Boys need books. I have one too. I will start to work on it after I finish what I'm working on now.
Have a beautiful weekend. Love you.
What a wonderful flash 55. You are quite the storyteller. It's an art to write short fiction. Beautiful Septembermom. Have a nice weekend.
Wow Kelly! Simply amazing!! You told an entire story with a picture and 55 words! Love it!
I feel impending doom.
