- We're getting closer to Friday. I feel battle weary this week. I'm looking forward to the weekend when I get to visit with some friends who remember me from those 80's leopard pants and huge hair days. All the old jokes from when I was a teen will start flying between us. I can turn into that wisecracking 16 year old again probably too easily.
- Food Network's recipe finder. I need HELP. Lots of HELP for this Thanksgiving!!
- Catching up on my shows waiting for me on the DVR. I'm hoping that I can jump right into Grey's Anatomy tonight.
- I love watching my kids' faces when I say to them, "You know Mommy still gives herself homework." They gasp when they see me pouring over an art history book or reading one of my classic literature books (usually with chocolate). My 11 year old said when he caught me studying, "Mom, why do you think that's fun?" Picture the look of pre-teen horror on his face as he wonders about his mother's "sanity." In my mind, I say, "It's what keeps the "me" in me :)
I'll post the Part 2 to the Four Questions Meme very soon!

I love the very thought of leopard pants and big hair and turning into a "wisecracking 16 year old".
My kids said my hair, when teased and sprayed, looked like a baseball helmet. :)
Great post and thank you for sharing!
leopard pants and big hair,,, i would have never "thunk" it.. but ok,, It is a good day aint it?
Hi Kelly
Thanks for your comments - I'll put them at the top of my "things I'm loving this Thursday" list!
Yours made me smile :D
Oh...I must head over to the Food network!! I am not even close to ready for Thanksgiving!!! Yikes. I love that you give yourself "homework". xoxo
I would have pegged you for a cheetah print girl myself ;-)
Thanks for the linking up love!
I was going to do this one today but for some reason Teresha's link goes to last week's list. Anyway, how fun that you'll be seeing some old friends! I was right there with you in my flowered jeans and spiral permed hair. People didn't even know I had straight hair. Is it American Thanksgiving this weekend? Hope it's a great one if it is.
Thanks for sharing this wonderfuln post.
Enjoy your Friday.
Yvonne.
I saw a "blazer" with rolled cuffs and it was paired with leggings and I was taken back to the 80's in a flash... late 80's I think, but I was there :)
I followed Pioneer Woman's recipes for Thanksgiving last year and was NOT disappointed :)
Have fun with your friends! I have no doubt I could go right back into that talk fer sure, like totally :)
"In my mind, I say, "It's what keeps the "me" in me :)" Awesome thought.
Decided to join you...http://enjoyingmylife-mary.blogspot.com/2010/11/things-im-loving-this-thursday.html
I just cannot believe that Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK? How can that be? Happy Thursday to you ...
Nothing is better than old friends. I had the chance to do that last weekend, and it never fails that we can pick up right where we left off. I hope you enjoy your friends this weekend. I picked up my turkey today. Can't wait for all that yummy food! ;)
I remember when my mom would read encyclopedias for fun and I thought that she was CRAAAAAZY! Haha! Now I understand. Keeps your brain from turning to mush!
Good luck jumping into DVR tonight- sounds fabulous!
Isn't it funny how we are much more interested in learning now? I would love to retake some history classes.
I miss big hair being fashionable. My hair never got the message that straight hair is in. Leopard pants...not so much.
Oh I love your answers...I can so relate to indulging in some classic literature.
I love that 'Burn Notice' and 'The Real Housewives' are on (RH are my guilty pleasure..). I love that my house is clean as of today and my front lawn raked. I love that I made chili for tomorrow and I don't have to bother with cooking dinner. I love that I don't have to leave the house tomorrow!~
I agree...there's not much better than visiting with old friends who knew you when. It is a blessing to have friends to laugh with who you don't have to explain the punchline to. Enjoy your weekend!
Have a great time with your friends and your kids always make me smile. Happy weekend - almost!
I'm thankful that it is only one week until the Turkey - Food Network or not.
I do hope you enjoy being 16 again, sounds like lots of fun. Have a great weekend with the DVDs.
Enjoy visiting with your friends ... it sounds like it will be fun!!! (I think you should drag out those leopard pants again.)
And I think it is great that you still give yourself "homework." None of us should ever stop learning.
I give myself homework, too. But I'm guessing that yours is much more legitimate homework than mine. I do like the addition of chocolate though!
It's already saturday 10.30am here and I guess I am going to love my visit to the beauty parlour (Salon...but parlour is how it is commanly referred to here !!)I love what you are going to do...meet up with old friends !
Ok, I confess...I am a Food Network or TV recipe watcher of over 20 years and I admit, I have never tried one recipe, from a show in real life...:)
