Poetry Quickfire

Tied to The Track

Rumble right through me
as I strain against the rope
that tightens and strangles
with minutes crashing down.

Silent actress held in place
as I feel the vibration
that taunts and reminds
with distress building up.

Train hostage will phoenix
as I absorb the fear
that revs and startles
with intensity and quiet.

Thoughts can grab hope
as I declare against inaction
that stifles and snuffs
with ice and fire.

Hear that clicking reel
as I stand in black and white
that frames and considers
with ropes falling off.

For this poetry quickfire, I thought about those silent film heroines tied to the train track feeling helpless. Some days with the job hunt, I feel helpless, but most days I strain at those ropes. I tell my husband, "Let's keep fighting." Now I'm starting to hum the Rocky theme!

Hope all is well with everyone :) Thanks for reading!

Sometimes life makes us feel this way, tied down and burdened, adversity being the train. Very unique analogy and you have captured all of the intensity in that moment with such grace :) Keep them coming. Always persevere, you and hubby. Derail that train girl!

Lots of angst in your poem, but against so much that is beyond your control, I see your positive "train" of thoughts coming through!

Your words always hit me to the core. Love this one even though it pains me and you!

I can't wait for the victory poem that you'll write when the job search is over~ I'm picturing that one to be boxing gloves in air and lots of "Yo Kelly!" being yelled ;) I'm singing the song to Rocky along with you in hopes that the triumph will come soon....

I got the imagery before you explained it ... well done. I imagine it must be very very frustrating with the job search. Hugs to you!

Great imagery - and I love the Rocky theme idea. It worked for him; it'll work for your husband, too! :)

I love reading what you write, and I love your fighting spirit. Take comfort in knowing that you have a whole host of people behind you and your husband to keep pressing forward just as you have. I can't WAIT to see what you will write when you finally see a breakthrough! Love you. :)

Next week when hubby is out of town, I might need you to hum the Rocky theme for me, ok?
I'm reminded to pray for the job quest for your hubby after reading this post.

It may be a slow train coming but it will arrive and, like Mandy's life after 30, I'm looking forward to the victory poem.
