I'm back in my virtual Hawaii this Friday to join in with Aloha Friday. It's all about taking it easy on Fridays with a quick question post. If you would like to participate, just post a question on your blog and add your link at An Island Life.
So as my kids are pounding the Wii dance mat trying to match the moves of "Dance Revolution Party," this question came to my mind:
What childhood activity do you miss?
I loved putting on my roller skates as a girl and zooming around my NYC neighborhood. Some of those steep neighborhood blocks were a challenge at times. I'm amazed that I didn't get hurt more often. Those were the days before helmets!
Sending hula vibes your way on this July Friday!!

I miss going on bike rides with my friends (although I have always been clumsy and tended to have a lot of bike wrecks, LOL)
I miss jumping rope - both the regular kind and even Chinese jump rope as well.
I also miss the hand games we played, sitting in a circle slapping each others hands while singing songs. This would entertain us for hours!
The good ole' days! Happy Friday Kelly!
I miss slumber parties!
I just miss playing with my toys all day. I remember how happy I was waking in the morning thinking I had the entire day to play. And it usually started with a pony/horse show followed by a tea party.
Oh, I have a whole list!
Riding bikes throughout the neighborhood with friends was always fun! I LOVED to play school. If only I even liked school the tiniest amount now. HA! I also used to love going to the skating rink with friends on the weekends too!
Gosh. Hmmm. My childhood is so long ago...I think what I miss the most is the bush with my Dad teaching me how to identify spoor, watch for animals etc. Living in a small village in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) we spent the weekends traipsing around the bush. Incredible freedom and a sense of peace, despite the dangers. Now I live in mega-city Johannesburg and I'm lucky if I get to the bush once a year. So...definitely the bush.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but it's not an activity, just the mindset. The mindset that meant any activity held possibility, freedom, fun and escape. You know?
Happy Friday, Kelly!
Oh the memories! I lived on a farm and I miss playing outside, jumping in the hay, finding fossils (Yes, they were real ones), sledding. We had neighbors that had an inground pool that we swam in a lot. I miss that too!
I miss my piano playing, I started very young but as I got into a teenager other things became more important.
Rnjoy your week-end.
Yvonne.
Bike-riding past the horse barn and field on our street. It was a very peaceful time.
bowling with my brother.
What a fantastic question for today! The activity I miss most is playing outside in the summer. All the neighborhood kids would get together and play jumprope, double dutch, cat's cradle, hand clap, and a whole host of other games, on into the evening. Thanks for taking me back down memory lane. This really made me smile, and I certainly needed to do that now. :)
being outside all the time...
I miss being able to read all day with nothing else I *needed* to do!
I didn't have any childhood activities that I miss doing. Life in the orphanage doesn't allow for such good memories :)
Bike riding most definitely, along with having almost no worries or concerns, save for making sure homework was done.
Chinese jumprope! I used to love it. In, out, side, side, on, in, out!
lol, hanging at the mall..
now i hate to go, get me in and out...
I miss playing school (ummm yes, I was that geek). And just exploring and founding all sorts of "clubs" with our friends :)
Gosh I don't know!
Thanks for visiting my blog! I'm now following yours as well.
The childhood activity I miss most isn't really an activity but a feeling. I miss the carefree days where I could just do whatever and not worry about adult problems such as bills, etc. I was more of a reader than a player, but with 7 kids I never get to read something over a 5th grade level, so I would love the chance to read a "adult book" for myself. I have several that I want but haven't bought cause I know I will never have the chance to read them.
I miss playing kickball
I miss strolling with my friends. Everyone is so busy!
Loved your post.

I miss make jewelry and crowns out of clover from the lawn.
What a fun and delightful meme Septembermom. You lived life on the edge rollerblading in the city. I guess I miss playing with my dolls, a very girly activity. Hope you have a good weekend.
My first puppy brings the best memories of my childhood.
I miss playing catch with my older brother in the farm yard. I would be up against the barn door as he hurled his punishing pitches.
I miss going on bike rides with my best friend. We were always signing up for these long rides that took us all through the NH countryside. I'm amazed our parents let us.
I also miss being in piano recitals. And HS band.
I miss the way my sister and I and all our friends sometimes as many as a dozen of us, would pack our lunch and go down to Rock Creek park(in DC) in the summer. We would walk, visit the planetarium, where they would turn off all the lights and show the stars. We would go down to the ford and put our feet in the water. Visit the stables and the horses. Joking playing and just having a great time.
I miss riding bikes everywhere whenever we needed or wanted to go somewhere. That was awesome.
Hey ... I'm loving the blue!!!
I miss playing with my brothers. We used to play these long elaborate games where we were three orphans surviving alone with our wolf (played by our dog). I want to get lost in that kind of imaginative play again. I seem to have lost that skill.
oh, I gotta do this on Friday! as for my childhood activity - I miss figure skating! yes, I live in florida and used to figure skate as a child (almost every day). :)
Kickball!!!
