Poetry Quickfire

Patching the Now

Designed by a day of almost,
as dream slipped in pockets.

Tired spirit hunched over,
as fingers opened to catch.

Unraveled stitches mocked
as worry latched to the fading.

Flashed by static images,
as slumber tossed the will.

Staggered by morning light,
as waking sewed the possible.

My poetic moment must end. Four kids are lining up in front of me saying, "Mom, where's the pasta?" Duty calls.

Hope to visit you all later tonight :)

Ooohh, come back and finish it... I like this line... as waking sewed the possible... I need to read it out loud so I can truly feel the words!

That's the line that really spoke to me, the same as Vicky noted ... As waking sewed the possible. Those few words say so much, bringing the act of sewing into the abstract possibilities of our lives. It's a great visual.

Will you finish this poem? Did the kids find the pasta?

I feel you. My spirit feels a little bit like the one in this poem.
I hope your kids got the pasta they wanted and that you get to come back to the writing deck soon amid peace and quiet.

I've decided to keep the poem "as is." I like the potential for possibility kind of ending. Thanks everyone for your support of my quickfires!

You always amaze me with the words you use to describe whatever it is you happen to be writing about.

How was the pasta?

I love the poem but it makes me sad b/c it makes me picture you sad, hunched over your computer typing those English stories/poems and dealing with the kids with no time to yourself! I hope you get to relax and have some fun this weekend. Happy Mother's day to you Kelly!

I loved "unraveled stitches mocked..." You have such a beautiful way with words, Kelly. Between the lyrical words and stunning art, I feel like I am on vacation whenever I visit.
