The Comeback Kids (and a fun giveaway)

Kids mirror their parents in many ways. I've noticed that my bunch want to follow in mom's sarcastic footsteps. All of them (including the little one) seem to have a sarcastic observation or comeback throughout the day. Of course, some of my better qualities must be there somewhere. It looks like my "sarcastic flair" (see how I try to put a positive spin on it :) wants to dominate these days. It's kind of weird hearing that little bit of me in my conversations with the kids. One neighbor, after hearing my son's sarcastic comment to his brother, remarked to me, "Kel, those are definitely your kids." So that's my legacy apparently. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they'll also develop a fondness for writing. I can hear my oldest son's comeback for that one, "Sure Mom, that's really what I want to do for fun." Can you hear his sarcasm? Add a smirk too :)

Guess what Dani is offering for her giveaway this week? Run on over to enter a chance to win a very cute pillow pack. They will add a burst of spring to any room. Colorful and fun!! Remember that it's a double treat if you follow Dani too. Dani's Daily Drop is full of fun, insight, creativity, and warmth. Doesn't it sound like a great place to visit? (I promise no sarcasm here :)

Our family has often practiced that kind of humor, too. And the next generation inevitably picks it up and runs with it, without even giving it second thought. It is interesting to behold! Maybe yours will become writers, too.

It's surprising what children will pick up,
mine has had me blushing many a time when they were younger.

Enjoy your week-end.

Oh that is too funny. I hear the sarcasm in my kids voices all the time & I am not so sure I like it so young. They don't have a funnel yet to know when it is acceptable and when it is not. Too often their sarcasm gets them in trouble. Wait...so does mine. LOL
Apple doesn't fall far from the tree...so I embrace it:)

Sarcasm is a much better legacy than bull-headed stubbornness....

We use sarcasm A LOT in our family. Our entire extended family enjoys cutting up and being sarcastic with each other when we're together! In fact, we wouldn't know what to do if someone wasn't being sarcastic! It has always been the way we have fun with each other and express ourselves but it definitely has its limits. Like someone else mentioned above, when my kids were younger, they often would find themselves in a bit of hot water because they had trouble understanding when they had gone a little too far with it. They would always know they had exceeded the limits when they got 'the eye' from me! :0)

Thanks for dropping by. I absolutely LOVE your blog's new look! It is awesome. I will head over to Dani's now and see what she is giving away.

Have a great weekend!

Blessings,

Teresa <><

Oh boy...I'd better watch that once Bubby is here because I am the queen of sarcasm! My husband can also tend toward the sarcastic side so we could be doomed anyway!

Good luck in the giveaway, I feel I should sit this one out since I just won the bean bag!

Have a blessed weekend Kelly!

My sarcastic comments have gotten me into trouble too many times. I hope your offspring don't suffer the same troubles!

I must confess, I kinda like that my kids share in my own sarcasm. Makes the days go by so much more, um, smoothly? I dunno.

Sarcasm is an art form. You should be proud. Seriously...

I love sarcasm but my Little One doesn't "get it" yet. He is very very very literal, often comically so! : )

If your kids not only "get it" but can also dish it out I think that is great. I always love someone with quick wit and a great sense of humor. My kids are pretty literal too so we have to work at this... its really no fun to have to tell them all the time that I am just kidding :)

For sarcasm read JOKING. It's kind of nice to banter with each other and end up laughing. If your kids are like that they must be a happy bunch.... taking after you, naturally.

hahahah oh no!!! I'm sure they have many of your wonderful characteristics too! THis is just too funny!

Yeah... it's amazing how they become mini-me's, isn't it? I keep waiting for the sarcasm to break out in the wee ones, but not yet. I wonder at what age they start?

HA! You should be SO proud!!!
No, really! I think a little sarcasm is good for everyone!

Sarcasm is hard to avoid. It is like a virus, infecting all who come in contact. (Not to mention being fun.)

You're so right that it is weird to hear a little bit of ourselves coming out in our kids. I still remember thinking, do I sound like that??

Here's a question: how do we now sound like our parents? Isn't that something to think about!

Thanks for the follow, Kelly. It was great hearing from you :-) Love your blog. I'll be visiting again...

Oh, I smiled as I read that. Reading between the lines of your posts, I know they have your (many) good qualities, too.

I think sarcasm is a good quality. At least that's what I tell myself because it's definitely a trait that I have. :)
