"Mom, Are You Rambling Again?"

It's Thursday so I feel a moment of rambling is about to begin. Brace yourselves :)
  • My oldest son likes to remind me that he is quickly approaching my height each day. He can't wait until he can pat me on the head.

  • Have you ever had a giggling contest with two preschoolers? It can be a fun and wild time :)

  • Soccer season is about to start. Jillian has told me that she "will not go on those muddy fields even for one minute!" I think she was Scarlett O'Hara in a prior life. Where is her parasol?

  • My gray hair laughs at me every morning. I have go to battle against them soon. I just need Jillian to go to bed at a decent hour. I want to do the coloring when I'm all alone. I don't want any interruptions or comments. I can imagine what the boys would say.

  • I want to go bike riding again. The other day, I went to get the bike. I didn't realize that my hubby took it apart to fit it in the garage. Maybe I'll try it as a unicycle!

  • I'm getting some great study time in with my 10 year old at the bus stop. He's a captive audience. No escape. I pray some things are sinking into that surfer dude brain :)

  • My favorite Jillian saying this week: "Mommy, we're the girl team. We can do anything!"
Happy Thursday everyone! Hope sunshine is filling your day.

Years ago, before I was a mom and was required to know better, I had a giggling contest with a 5 year-old that kept him up way past his bed time. It was great fun.

Thanks for your rambling!

I love your rambling post! My oldest son started patting me on the head many years ago. And now he sits his elbow there. LOL

I love Jillian's little quote. I agree, the girl team can do anything. :)

Jillian cracks me up - she totally sounds and even looks like Scarlett O'Hara. You have your hands full with her but you can think about that tomorrow!

I love that she thinks girls can do anything - indeed!

Bravo to your Jillian on her soccer decision. Sometimes I see the girls on the soccer leagues, fiercely running around in the wet muddy grass, cold and shivering, coaches hollering at them, and I don't get it. They choose to do this for fun? So Jillian has my vote on that.

I love this post. It is refreshing to 'hear' what is on the minds of others. The giggling contest is lots of fun. My guys make me laugh so hard sometimes that my stomach aches from not being able to stop. :) It's great to have that kind of laughter in our lives.

I love those randoms! The kid lines are the best! You'll want to remember those and read them at their wedding or baby showers in the future....

Yes, I'd love to see you on a unicycle too. What a great photo and story that would make!

Girl teams are awesome! My kids are getting so tall too. I can't even bare to think of them being taller than me. *sigh*

I love your ramblings. I especially like that Jillian doesn't want to get muddy, not even for one minute! She is a little woman after my own heart! :0)

Hope you're enjoying a great week!

Funny that your son wants to pat you on the head! Haha! I can just picture that!

Sounds like you've got a girly-girl on your hands with Jillian! :) I was one too, and I am not afraid to get dirty now!

Oh my gosh, Kelly, I LOVE this post! Your daughter is hillarious...the things she says remind me of my youngest. Thanks so much for this...it gave me a much needed pick up this afternoon!

My sons have never thought of patting my head - when they get that big they have an aversiosn to touching, hugging et al. However, they have a great time about my grey, which someone else does because it just got to be to big a job - LOL! I want to go bike riding, but I worry about the size of the seat - or is it the size of my seat?

And your daughter - oh, try the ballet! My DIL was a ballerina and it is sooooo fabulous - all girl, all grace and so non-boy!

Thanks for rambling. What a fun, sweet time!

These are funny, especially the pat on the head comment! My son was reading over my shoulder just now and said how he couldn't wait until he was bigger than 'daddy'. My reply? "Daddy isn't bigger than grandpa so don't be surprised..." I laughed-he didn't... LOL!

Jillian just cracks me up!

And if you attempt a unicycle, I want video footage!

Oh, your Jillian is so like my little sister Jillian. I can see her saying the same thing about the soccer fields. She's so funny, and I love your Scarlet analogy.

This post is so upbeat!! I really admire you for that. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Hope you have a wonderful Friday :)

The girl team? I love it. She's such a cutie pie!

And the unicycle? I won't even ask. I think that's better for everyone. Although that reminds me that I should go figure out my bike soon. Once we're out of the 30s. Again.

I had an image of you colouring your hair with the kids around, having to attend to something for them, and forgetting the colour in! lol Yep, definitely wait for a quite moment.

A giggling contest with two teenagers is also fun. We sometimes have tears rolling down our faces and our sides hurt so bad we just know it's a form of exercise :)

Becca said...

OH gracious. I think Jillian could keep me entertained for hours. The things she says are just hilarious! I am sure she would enjoy watching you do your hair though! She would probably make a little beauty party out of it or something!

If you decide to give it a try, you MUST take pictures of you on that unicycle. Good luck with that LOL!

Vicky said...

Oh goodness, that Jillian is a hoot! Go girl team! I have none, so I am rooting for you :) My kids are oblivious to me with color on my hair... its been a fact of life around here for far too long!

sometimes I wish that there was a "like" button in blogging like there is in Facebook, for those of us who are time challenged but still want to let you know we're out here and enjoying your posts.

Great post. Blogs are a good place from those random thoughts that just need a place to go.
Thanks for your comment on Warren's blog. I hope your writing goes well!

i love 'the girl team!'

i like how you see things. and you
are very wise to wait and color your
hair when all are in bed. it is not as
easy as it looks on tv.

i'll be back!

I love when you share these fun, random moments. Aren't they the best ones and the things we cherish the most when the day isn't as fun?

Your Jillian is definitely a girl with her own opinions. She is lucky to have wet, muddy, grass fields. In my day, we had wet, muddy, dirt that was often full of sea shells since it was the leftovers from when they dredged in the harbor... LOL

Go girl team!
