Updates and some Idol talk

In case you were wondering, here are some updates.

  1. I can get my right shoe back on! Gratefully, the swelling has gone down dramatically on my ankle and foot. It has been a tough couple of days going to bus stops, driving and hanging out at soccer fields. My boys no longer point to my foot and say, "Wow, mom's foot looks freaky and huge!" It still hurts a bit. I didn't rest it as much as I should. When do moms rest anyway?
  2. Bullies are busy elsewhere. It has been a quiet week on the block. The taunting kids are off doing something, but at least they are not bothering my son. Weekends are usually the worst. I'm hoping that we will have a "bully free" weekend for Mother's Day.
  3. Soccer stalker mom alert! I actually saw the soccer mom (who likes to be my shadow at practice) at a school event. She was busy gabbing it up with another mom and barely acknowledged me. I did say hello, but she was so absorbed in what she saying. I'm glad that she found another mom's ear. We'll see if she hunts me down at next practice.
  4. Vacation blues. My husband and I are in ongoing negotiations about making vacation plans. I keep telling him that I think it would be good to get away. He is not as anxious. I may have to pull out something from my "you owe me" arsenal. Don't all wives have one?
To all you American Idol fans, wasn't Adam's performance of "Whole Lotta Love" terrific? That is my favorite Led Zeppelin song. I didn't know if he could pull it off Robert Plant style. He really blew everyone else away. I felt bad for Danny. "Dream On" by Aerosmith is almost impossible to recreate, especially those huge notes at the end. Danny looked like he was nervous. Who is your favorite? I'm leaning towards Adam after last night.

Good news on the foot and the bullies and the stalker mom!

Maybe you should discuss the vaca with the husband later tonight. In bed. If you catch my drift.

Well lots of good news going on here! How about a vacation that is kind of like a "home" vacation, rent a little beach cottage, something along those lines? I haven't been following Idol too closely, but did watch last night. I like the girl, I'm not sure of her name, but she was my pick.

Ooh, good - another Adam fan!! Everyone around here thinks he's over the top, but I adore him. And poor, poor Danny. That scream... oh dear.
Good luck with the vacation plans - and I'm so glad to hear that your foot is getting better!!

Wow! This woman really must be quite self absorbed. I wonder if she's even conscious of the fact that she's such a gossip. If she comes back maybe you should enlighten her on the fact. :) Self improvement is good for us all.

At the very least, have a five day vacation in a nearby city. I'd love to do Calgary sometime soon.

It was a great show!! Im all for Adam, but I really like Allison a lot as well. I'll be sad to see her go.

By the way, Adam is already a superstar; he has the personality!!

I am SO glad the bullies are staying away from your son! I've been worried about that!

Adam is so incredible- the others just don't measure up for me!
Good luck on the vacation thing- sounds like a healthy and fun thing to do. Unfortunately all of our "vacations" have to be trips to Oregon to see family. Hardly relaxing.

Love the update! Glad to hear things are better with the bullies and the stalker. OK, when you read that last sentence it sounds kind of freaky...

I'm happy your foot is better. It's great that the bullies are off elsewhere and the soccer stalker mom is chatting off someone else's ear.

I hated that Allison left Idol today : ( But I also love Danny and Adam is very good. He's probably your winner.

So glad your ankle is feeling better... but you really need to work on resting! And as for the bullies this weekend? Any chance you can hang out away from home with the kids so you don't even have to stress about it on Mother's Day?

Glad about your foot and the bullies.

I find often things that are troubling have a way of fixing themselves. Kind of an 80/20 rule - only about 20% of the time is actual intervention needed (i.e. bullies and stalker mom).

Good luck with the vacation negotiations.

We don't watch TV so no idea on American Idol - I'll take your word for it.

Thanks for sharing!

Oprah had an excellent special on bullying Wednesday. I wish I could have called to tell you:). It was so good. When they run the season again through the summer, I will email you ahead of time.

Yes, we ALL have one of those arsenals. I'm glad you are pushing early.. never too early to plan a vacation!

I'm happy to hear the update on the bully(ies)! Thanks for keeping us in teh loop!

I keep meaning to say I'm sorry for your ankle problem but then I always forget. Sorry!!!! I hope it gets better soon.

And I'm glad the bullies and "soccer mom" are out of the picture this week ... hope they stay away!

And I don't watch American Idol anymore but I've been hearing great stuff about this Adam guy. I'll have to check it out.

Glad your foot is feeling better and the bullies are busy elsewhere. That Mom obviously loves to gab. Now you can feel better about excusing yourself. She is a gabber not dependent upon your friendship! Hooray for you. :)
