Friday High Five

It's Friday High Five time again! Visit Angela's Adventures and Minor Mishaps to join in the fun.

My mom has always said to me, "Kelly, slow down! You'll hurt yourself." Here are 5 examples of my mom's words coming painfully true when I rushed around.
  1. I was never in a ballet class, but I thought that I could master the dance moves in my kitchen. So thinking that I could "wing it" in my nine year old way, I must have kicked my leg up too far and fell flat on my back inches from squishing my 5 year old brother.

  2. When we were teenagers dating, my husband brought me down to his cellar to show me something that he thought was interesting. I can't remember what it was. Most likely, it had to do with cars. As we entered his parents' dark and musty cellar, I didn't hear my husband's warning to watch my head. I turn around quickly and banged my head hard on a huge low pipe. I took a lump for love on that day.

  3. When we were kids, we did some crazy maneuvers on our roller skates. No helmets or pads. Amazing that we survived those days. One time, I let some big mouth kid push me into a roller skate race down the steepest, broken up sidewalk in the neighborhood. I lost the race. Gratefully, I didn't lose any teeth when I ran into those garbage cans.

  4. Here's a familiar scenario for many of you. First time mom upstairs when I hear my little one screaming his lungs out downstairs. Thinking that I was able to fly or something, I went down the stairs too fast. My butt bounced off the last three steps. By my second kid, I learned quickly that I don't have to jump for every cry.

  5. As I sit here typing, I have my swollen ankle propped up with a Scooby-Doo pillow. Yesterday, I rushed to get out the door so I could get my kindergartner to his bus. I missed one of the front steps and landed smack on my ankle. I'm hop-a-long Kelly today.
So you can guess what my mom said to me on the phone this morning. Happy Friday!

By the way, I will be joining you in the hop-a-long dance today but my ankles are swollen from sunburn!

I have the same problem. As of last night, I have not one, but two nasty burns on my hands from rushing while I was cooking on two different occasions. I never seem to learn.

I always have mysterious bruises from running into stuff. I can never even remember what I did.

Hope your ankle feels better soon!

Love number 4. Once I tried bounding up three stairs at a time to get to my crying baby (#2, which shows it takes me a couple times to learn a lesson) and tripped at the landing, smacking my head into the backdoor knob. My hubby saw me and said I didn't skip a beat before bounding up the next set of stairs. After all that, baby #2 was screaming because #1 took something away. I was left with a black and blue temple. Ahhh... motherhood.

Thanks for the laugh. Happy Friday. ~Sara

I was wondering should we start a "who is the most clutzy" competition, I think I could give you a run for your money. Thanks for the birthday wishes. Hope your ankle feels better soon (by the way I love Scooby Doo).

I have similar memories, except they don't have much to do with being fast, just clumsy... About fast, my dad used to say: "when they start putting people to prison for being fast, don't worry. You have nothing to fear."
That is how he commented my way of doing things. He also said I bumped into three chairs if only I went past two. That was about my clumsiness.

Hope your ankle ets better soon!
