Princess bestows her compliments

My daughter's room is filled with princesses, baby dolls and all things pink. After having 3 boys, I probably went a little overboard with designing this super duper girl room. She does love being the queen of her little castle. When she receives guests into her room, she enjoys giving them the grand tour. I love how little girls talk about every little doll or toy in such cute detail. My boys would never sit still long enough to show off anything to family or friends. They were always in turbo mode.

My three year old princess is especially generous with compliments. She finds little ways to make someone feel a bit like a queen for a day. If her aunt is sitting on the floor admiring her Barbie collection, my daughter will usually compliment some part of an outfit or piece of jewelry. She may say, "Oh, what a beautiful necklace. I like how it sparkles." On those particularly unglamorous days, she can brighten up my mood quickly by saying something like, "Mom, your ponytail looks so pretty today." To me, it probably looked like a bird's nest, but she finds a way to make me feel special for a few minutes. Her compliments are not rehearsed or forced. She boosts your self-esteem when she admires even the smallest thing about you. To her, everyone is beautiful. And isn't she right?
