Monday Memory Madness

Hi everyone! I'm playing Monday Memory Madness with Dani, over at Dani's Daily Drop. Today's task is to share car/driving memories.
  1. It's the day of my driving test. My husband (then boyfriend) spent many hours helping nervous me get ready for this test. His only concern was that I didn't get a certain driving inspector. She was known as "the Barracuda". He heard that she could unnerve the most confident driver with just a look or sarcastic comment. Since I tend to over think everything, he was afraid that I would not do well under her stern, analytic supervision. Well, it turned out that I did have the Barracuda. Gratefully, I passed. You should have seen the look on my future husband's face when I got out of the car. He was a wreck. He said that he actually said a prayer. If he broke into prayer, it really was a miraculous day!

  2. As I was backing out of the garage, I heard a huge BANG. Sudden sounds make me very jumpy. I had the 4 kids in the car, so I told them to get out ASAP. See how quick I think that the van is under some kind of military attack :) All I did was run over my son's favorite basketball. Once he realized that his ball was history, you should have heard how he "exploded" with whining and crying.

  3. My husband likes to be the driver. He is fidgety as the passenger when I'm driving. I tend to assume that he's evaluating my every move. One time as we were going down the road, he joked that I was going too slow. I thought that I was going at a fine, safe speed. He looks in the rear view mirror and reports, "Guess what? A bus is giving you the beams." Apparently, if someone gives you the "beams", it means that you are moving too slow for them. He thinks it's funny that I was slower than the bus. He believes that it is impossible to get the beams from a bus. Hey, maybe that bus driver thought he was Mario Andretti! I was providing a public service:)
Have some fun and join Dani for Monday Memory Madness.

Monday Memory Madness

It's Monday so I can't forget to play Monday Memory Madness along with Dani over at Dani's Daily Drop. Today Dani asks if there is a particular scent that triggers a certain memory or an unpleasant scent that you may actually enjoy. It took me a while, but this memory came to my mind.

Any of you out there know the distinct scent from Chaps cologne for men? My Dad loved to use this cologne daily. All of us in the family would joke about how the scent was overpowering and not so pleasing. He would smile with his usual grin and assure us that there are those who appreciate a Chaps man.

My dear Dad passed away almost nine years ago. I would love to smell that Chaps cologne again. It would bring me back so quickly to those fond memories of Dad bragging about his Chaps. I think I would stop in my tracks if that scent came into the room. Another day wishing that I could give my Dad a hug :)

Please visit Dani's wonderful blog to link up and share your own special "scent" memory.
