Looking to connect: Be on your guard! Kelly is looking for meaningful conversations. (My husband will be the first to run out the door!)

It seems like I'm on a mission to make real connections with all that I meet.  I have come to the realization that it's worth the effort to take the time to get to know people.  You should have seen me at my high school reunion trying to reconnect with a few women who were more interested in shrieking in delight when they recognized someone.  It didn't take me long to see that I don't have a high tolerance at all for shrieking.

I have so much to share with all of you. I wish you could come along with me as I run to Jillian's school this morning. I will be covered in frosting most likely as I help build the frames for little gingerbread houses.  Definitely it will not be a Martha Stewart kind of job with me in charge!

Maybe 2 AM is my best time to blog.  Nice and quiet without any distractions.  Now for staying awake...that's the challenge.  But I'm up for it because I miss connecting with all of you.

Time to dust off the toast crumbs from my pajamas.  I have two sleepy kids who need a big push to get motivated for the dash to the school bus.

Wish me luck that 20 mini gingerbread houses don't collapse!

"The Boss" says that I will strike up a conversation in the grocery check out line. I thought that was normal,, she told me "you ain't normal".. lol

Oh golly - I remember those mini gingerbread houses in kindergarten. It was one of the best and most vivid memories I had as a school age child. It was amazing moms like you that made it possible - I always wished my mom could have been one of those (she was a single working mom so not an option). Go enjoy it. Just know that you have meaningful conversations with us and I'll refrain from shrieking.

I always love connecting with you Kelly. You're the best!

I remember helping my youngest daughter's class with those gingerbread houses. We used the little milk cartons for forms to "glue" graham crackers to. They always turned out so cute. I hope you have fun with your kindergartner today. I'm a little jealous, I really miss those days.

I could never understand the shrieking thing. Even when I was IN high school, I never shrieked. Now, when I had a mouse in my house, then I shrieked!

I will be doing the same thing in a couple of weeks with my first grader :) I sure hope that I'm not up at 2 a.m. the night before, though....I don't want to be one of those crabby bus drivers - hahaha

I think sometimes we are there for a deeper meaning with people and sometimes it's just a flicker. Each one will be different and what it is supposed to be. Hugs sweets! :O)

Oh good, someone who feels like me- that its worth it to invest in conversations and knowing people :) I am anything but surprised that you would be one of those people who would take the time to do this very thing!

My sons class is doing a gingerbread train, but so far I have not been asked to help! Good luck with the houses!

If 2:00 a.m. was my blog time there would only be blank post, darkness. My head would be on the keyboard.

I applaud you for trying to make connections.

2:00am!!!!!!!! I don't think anything I say could be meaningful until I've had meaningful sleep time:) I'm smiling now as I imagine your valiant efforts.

I'd like to bet those gingerbread houses DO NOT fall down. As for shrieking, I cannot stomach it. I can't begin to understand why people do it. Wouldn't it be nice if we could turn their volume down...grins.

I have zero-tolerance for shrieking women myself. Hee. Hope your gingerbread houses make it!

Shrieking + grown women = NO NO NO NO NO

I wish we lived closer to each other so we could have meaningful conversations.

Tell me you at least have the milk cartons supporting the gingerbread houses? That's ... wow. I was talking about this with a Daisy leader the other day who gave in and finally just bought the prebuilt kits. Good luck!

Moments (or hours in my case) spent making a gingerbread house make so much more than, well, a gingerbread house.
What a wonderful time we had making one. I'll have to ask the boys if they remember...

Kelly, how could I not stop to make a comment on this one? You are awesome at making connections!

There was a time when I would start my term papers past midnight because that was the quiet stretch - now, I can barely keep a coherent thought past 10:00pm. If 2:00 am works for you, I am beyond impressed!

Gingerbread houses drive me insane. So glad my mother in law sent a premade one to us this year so that we didn't have to bother with it! Hopefully she will continue sending them each year!
