Friday Flash Fiction

Place du Palais Royal by Victor Gabriel Gilbert

I decided to use this lovely painting as my inspiration for a Friday Flash Fiction (55 words only). Thanks for reading.

A cold morning pulsed by Celine as fear and regret attempted to drown that memory of before. Feeling the pull of a song within, she escaped to live her art, keeping each breath in line. Celine triumphed with thoughts of stretching up to the sky in dance. Her husband’s tyranny began to loosen its hold.

"...She escaped to live her art"...,I love that! I can identify with a desire and a need to escape. Escaping to art, well sister, that blows my mind and....gives me something to shoot for!

Terrific writing! A keeper!

Thanks for sharing.

Her husband's tyranny...this spoke to me not so much in a literal sense, but just that idea of having a few moments to yourself. I got to run to Walmart for about an hour to develop some pictures while Shaune stayed home with the kids. It was the first time I'd been out in the evening alone in such a long time. It was kind of nice! It would have been more fun to have met a friend for a piece of chocolate cake or a glass of wine!

What a beautiful post...I love how the last lines are triumphant for this woman raising herself through art. Lovely writing here Septembermom!

I cannot see the photo but I can imagine what it looks like based on your flash fiction. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I also like 'escaped to live her art.' There is a vitality and resolve there.

"Celine triumphed..."

I'm running out of synonyms for "wonderful"!

Oh the escape and tyranny was powerful there. Great word choices!

You're the word artist. Have you started compiling these for a book?

I like what glnroz said: "the word artist" that is so very true. And, YAY for Celine. ;)
