Poetry Quickfire

To Be Caught

The she within found each crevice
pushing with bloodied fingers
to reach the summit of her could be.

That air above could chill her resolve
frosting her aching limbs
to scale the pile of her daily being.

The pulse below hums through breath
moving with patched spirit
to pen the person of her ever present.

Happy Saturday everyone. I just had one of those tough discipline moments with the kids. I always feel kind of torn in two when I'm fighting to keep the peace. Sometimes I write a poem as a way to purge that negativity out of me. This is what I wrote as I sat here these 10 minutes away in a place to bring me back to me. It's a poem without a plan or maybe even a reason, but it somehow expresses where I am now and where I want to climb throughout my day.

Hope I'm making some sense :) See you all soon, my friends.

I know how you feel when you have to fight to keep the peace. Lovely poem too.

Such a healthy outlet. You always amaze me with your words.

Maybe I should try writing poetry! It is hard to keep the peace around here.

I can feel your angst in those words..... I hope putting them out there helped you feel better and gain some of that peace you lost. Even though I don't like what they describe, I still love the words you put out there! You're so very talented!

Oh I hate those moments. Here's hoping you have no more this weekend, but I love how you fix yourself. That's a great release!

you are making a lot of sense and so eloquently. I have been struggling to find the disciplining balance with a very headstrong 14 month old who is challenging me to be a better model of peacefulness. It is like climbing a summit...exhausting, but rewarding!

I like how poetry is such an outlet for you, isn't it great how it works like that? Hope you're feeling better, enjoy the rest of the weekend.

I think this is one of your stronger poems. It has a very strong core to it that spoke to me. Well done. I hate that negative moments inspire you like this but at least this moment resulted in a diamond of a poem.

Wow. This touched my soul on so many levels. I can really relate, as it has been one of those days here too. I hope this helped with you getting back to you. For you just sitting without a plan and coming up with this, I say BRAVO. This may just be one of my favorites of your work.

Thanks so much for your sweet comments; they really touched my heart. It is amazing how encouraging this blogging world can be. I'm so thankful to have found you. :)

I agree with some of the others here--this is one of my favorites too. And I totally understand how crisis moments lead you to great poetry. I used to only be able to write poetry when I was broken-hearted, and then it seemed to come from another source, just flowing from my brain to fingertips without reason as you said. I think it's wonderful that painful situations lead to creativity, or else what good are they? :)

A perfect outlet for taut nerves. I wish I could be creative at those times.

I think that is great that you break away to find yourself through poetry. I need something like that. Mine is usually a time out because I lost it. Sheesh. I must do better. Great job.

Ooo, "to scale the pile of her daily being..." That is such a truthful sentence that resonates so deeply with me... awesome, this was a brilliant 10 minutes of your life :)

I think I will also feel like that when I have to do some real disciplining. I loved the poem. It felt so raggedy and raw - like it was straight from your core. Hope your Sunday is good so far! It's wonderful knowing you too:)

I enjoyed the rhythm and style in this piece. This is another strong poem...I love the last line especially. Poetry conveys so much about how we are feeling. Hope you have a lovely week.

What a great idea to re-center yourself. Usually when I am frazzled all I can think is "AHHHH!" Wish I could release stress as beautifully as you.
Well done!
