I just love watching dance. Tonight should be an exciting finale to my favorite show, So You Think You Can Dance. Such talented dancers have been featured this season.
I happened to find a dance documentary by chance last night as I was cleaning up our living room. My husband had fallen asleep while channel surfing. Luckily for me, he unconsciously clicked on a very interesting documentary profiling ordinary people taking a salsa class. The students were a varied group who danced to free themselves in a number of ways.
Almost 42, I'm playing around with the idea of looking into a dance class for me. Once we get back on our financial feet when that right job comes up (fingers crossed), I want to look into different dance styles to see what may suit me and my "ability." If you were to take a dance class, what style would you choose?

I would love to do a ballet class, I've always thought ballet was sooo beautiful! unfortunately i'm just about the least coordinated person in life :) but my girls are starting a ballet class in a few weeks! i guess i can live through them!
DO IT!!!! It is truly so much fun, and it does not matter when you start. And who do you want to win SYTYCD?
I think I'd go for ballroom. Swing is fun, but I think that would have to be later, when I got in better shape. ;-)
The style that everyone sits out to admire the few who do it effortlessly.
you should do it.
Beth, I think all the finalists are great, but I'm rooting for Robert.
I used to take dance lessons from ages 3 to age 13. I did everything from ballet to Caribbean folk dance. I would love to learn to swing dance!
you should go for it!
I have never been a fan of So You Think You Can Dance but i love dancing. If i were to learn dance it would be definitely Salsa. It;s so damn sexy!
Age should come between you and your fun!
Through our community ed you can take a social dance class that combines all kinds of dance from two step, to polka, to salsa. I've heard its so much fun... definitely do it :)
SO Much FUN! You should definitely do it! AND blog all about it! I think it would be a blast to learn salsa and a good work out too!
dance for fun has no age limit. a friend is trying toget me to attend tango classes, but the girl-child is too young at the moment. soonish!
I love ballroom dancing - but I have two left feet so have never tried! It's a great idea to take dance classes. :)

I am so untalented dancing. I know my limitations and that's one of them! :O)
I love to dance! I took dance for years when I was little and was on the dance team in high school - so much fun! I can't wait until my girls are old enough to start. I'd love to take a hip-hop class. You should totally do it!
I'm 47. It is one of my dreams to learn to dance the tango....
I am not a good dancer, I adore music but have two left feet when it comes to tripping the light fantastic.
Yvonne.
Modern dance seems the most versatile.
I would love to be able to salsa, but also any of the dances around at the minute. I say when you can go for it.. Carol and GJ x
I took ballet as an adult and it was awesome but I don't recommend starting it up if you've never studied semi-seriously. But it was an amazing feeling and I think in time I'll go back again.
Salsa is a ton of fun. I kind of want to try something with a partner - maybe I can get T Rex Dad to take ballroom lessons with me.
I cannot wait to hear what you pick!
What a great idea! Fun to do something just for you! I would LOVE to take a ballroom class with my husband- maybe when (someday) we don't have any young kiddos at home!
What a fun idea. I've asked HG if he would be willing to take a ballroom dance class with me sometime, and he just said, "No."
I have actually thought of doing that too. i would love to take a ball room dancing class with my husband.
i LOVE love love belly dance. it's such a supportive and empowering group of women and i always left feeling so beautiful...
Oh it is so much fun and so rewarding, in a heartbeat go do it! I actually would love to do more belly dancing. My gym offers it, but I've been too busy to go for a long time. It's so much fun though - and we can look stupid but no one cares :)
you might consider an ad...a friend of mine found a dance teacher (for free & barter) that way!
i think i'd try nia because i'm so not a dancer. :)
Oh Kelly, DO IT! It will be a blast. Take up dancing or painting or something creative to feed your artistic soul. Do you have a Michaels or Hobby Lobby craft store near you? They offer affordable classes. Anyway, I'd love to take a Swing Dancing class. That would be fun! I'd love to kick my legs around and throw my skirt up for all to see, hahaha!
You need to rent the movie "Shall We Dance" with Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez in the mean time.... it is about a guy who does this for himself and learns a lot about the kind of person he wants to be. I think you'll enjoy it. Plus, it has Richard Gere in it! :__)
I used to to do ballroom dancing and loved it. I think it's the only style I was cut out for, although I love to watch everything in the dance world, especially balleet. Go for it, Kelly, you'll get so much pleasure from it.
Interesting post. I like your blog style where paintings dance with your posts!
Septembermom...I am 61...can you dance in a wheel chair? Just kidding about the wheelchair! My wife is wanting me to take ballroom dancing...I am not yet convinced!
Dan
Go...For....It!!!
Definitely salsa, or ballet. I've always wanted to try both. It's never too late, and I love that you are keeping the dream alive. I can't wait to hear all about it when you decide to do it. :)
The Tango of course, or maybe even the waltz since I have two left feet when it comes to dancing and the basics might be the way to go-LOL!
