I feel random today and most days lately

Randomly speaking...

  • Since my kids range in age from 13 to 5, I tend to know mothers of all ages. Today, teacher assignments went out in the mail. The younger mothers that I know all called me to see what I knew about each teacher. They seem to think that I have all the inside scoop since I've been around the "school" block for some years now. Today in a conversation, the topic of wedding anniversaries came up. I said, "Well, I was married in 1993." She paused and said, "Wow! I was in fifth grade that year."

  • Can someone send me cute pom poms? I need some props to continue my cheerleading for hubby. I think I'm running out of "cheers" to keep him motivated in the job search. I find myself trying to be Ms. Optimistic even when doing the most routine chores. I remember yelling to him as I scrubbed the tub, "Don't worry Honey. You'll do fine. Keep thinking of your strengths and don't get sidelined by tricky questions." I'm some cheerleader with rubber gloves and my hair in a wacky ponytail.

  • On Friday afternoon, I am helping clean soccer fields of all debris in order to get ready for a soccer tournament. Last year, my back ached for two days. You know how we pick up toys all day? It's like picking up toys continuously for three hours. I'm hunched over like the Hunchback of Notre Dame by the end of the day!

  • Jillian's observation of the week: "Mommy, you know some things, but Grandma knows everything!"

  • My love affair with paintings and prints may be eye opening for some of my friends and neighbors. I had a neighbor over the other day and she said, "You really like to cover up your walls with pictures." To me, it's adding color and life to my walls. Well, maybe I am hiding a mark or two :)
My husband is watching an A-Team rerun and I'm off to do the dishes. Talk about a romantic marriage, huh? See you all soon!

If it makes you feel better, I was married in 1981 - I'm really ancient!
Keep cheering on your hubby - I'm cheering for you, for cheering for him. Did that make sense?

Important random information...romance is overated. Mr. T. is an enigma. Pictures and paintings are begging to be hung. In 1993 I waas not in the fifth grade. Youngest is right...grandmas do know everything.

I can make you feel even better I was married in 1976..now my children think I know something...isn't that a hoot...plus I just became a grandma....

Ok the picture of cheerleaders in rubber glove had me busting a gut. I love that visual and am trying to figure out how to tie that in... Wow :)

I had to laugh about the 1993 comment! It reminded me of when I had Jeremiah in my late 30's and then getting invited to a "Young Mothers" group when he was three and I was 41. I guess they assumed since I had a three year old, I was young.

I know it's rough, but I think you are a great cheerleader for your husband. You're probably the only thing keeping him sane right now.

Oh and another thing... I love your random thoughts!

Nothing wrong with random thoughts. And I'm a little freaked out with the mom who was in 5th grade in 1993. I'm starting to feel old now.

And isn't it amazing that our moms do often know everything?!?

I'll send you my blue and gold pompoms. Good luck.

My oldest is 16 & my youngest is 3. My daughter talks about her friends having older parents & when my youngest is her age I'll be the older parent. But 5th grade? WOW! I was about 20 in 1993

We always seemed to get helping the school fetes and soccer matches when our three were at school. My daughter used to do disco dancing and many the week-end was spent going along to competitions, Wonderful memories.
Have a good day.
I would like to say thanks for the visit and commenting on many of my poems, I can assure you I do appreciate it and it's good to know someone out there in the world is reading them.

I can sympathize with the first one. I always feel a little older and the hair on my face gets a little grayer whenever I see a new employee whose birthday is when I went to high school plus three years removed (1979-86).

Praying for you to be encouraged, strengthened and hopeful! :O)

Ooh, ooh! An A-Team rerun? What channel? ;)

This post tickles me, because I just posted my own random thoughts over at my blog, without knowing it's what I'd find here! Great minds. :)

Be patient, when you're a grandma you'll know everything too. Keep on cheering, no matter what your hair looks like.... grins.

You are an amazing cheerleader. You may think it seems repetitive, but I am sure that you are just the breath of fresh air your husband needs. When no one else is there to encourage him, be proud of the fact that he always has YOU to do it for him. :)

After cleaning that soccer field, I'm sure a nice hot bath will be in order.

The paintings on your walls are what makes you happy. I say keep it up, as moms, it's the little things that make us happy that keep us sane. ;)

Ahh romance. I think it comes and goes in waves. At least for me and my husband it does. I will say that I've been feeling it lately, though.

Hey, I was married in 1990. Good luck with your husband’s job search. That is stressful for all. And there are still dishes to do.

Kelly.. i made my sister read this with me... we are laughing like lunatics here. Scrubbing the tub and cheer leading ! my mom got married in 1981 she was 19 then. my older sister was born in 1983, and she is now 27 yrs old and now the outsiders view them as sisters often ! they gather appreciations, which work for my mom.but not for my sister. but Im 23.. and look of same age as my sister who is 27.. she gathers appreciations for looking young and i feel terrible of them all.

we all look like 3 sisters... 23, 27 and my mom.

It seems married life is taking a back seat to family life, which is not uncommon. It's hard to feel energised after a full days multi-tasking for your children! Ha. It does get easier as time goes on, and then you can settle back into married life with less distractions!

And why aren't grandads deemed 'all knowing' too? Ha. I mention this as I am one! Ha.

Good 'random' ponders which raised a few smiles on my face.

Thank you. Love love, Andrew. Bye.

Your marriage sounds like one that started in 1993!! : )

And I have a mom like you that I quiz about all the school stuff since I know nothing! You're a School Elder!

Love that Jillian quote!

I get those same sort of phone calls. It makes me feel good that people trust my opinion!
And I was married in '86.

I graduated high school in 93 and was married in 99 so I'm not that far behind you! :) I'm sure it gets tiring being the cheerleader. I pray something comes along soon!

I've been feeling like you lately-everything going on at one time, rushing here and there... And that 1993 comment-oh boy! LOL!

I was laughing out loud when the teacher mentioned she was only in 5th grade the year you married! Yeah, I also felt old when I was older than my son's school principal!

Pity you live on the other side of a great big ocean Kelly - my Mom makes some mean pom-poms!

Love the random thoughts. Jillian is a very smart little girl. I was married in '80...coming up on 30 here pretty quick. Hope your hubby finds something soon, I'm sure he appreciates your cheerleading no matter what you're wearing ;-) My prayers are with you still.

Why do they always think that Grandma knows it all. Sheesh. :)
I can send my little cheerleader your way...she is always doing cheers around here.

Love your Jillian, "Grandma know everything." LOL And yes, I told some youngin' I was from the class of 90 and she just smiled. I thought, "Come on, really? Can you be anymore obvious?" LOL
