Poetry Quickfire

Step Forward

Caribbean blue unrivaled,
paraded through her mind
as the quiet apprentice
wrapped her shoulders gently
with yards of that vibrancy.

Midnight chill folded,
surrendered to her light
as the hesitant visionary
penciled her garment lines
with only the slightest tremble.

I could have named this one, "A Designer is Born." :) Today's bus stop poetry inspiration came from my excitement about Project Runway. I admire the creativity and vision of fashion designers. I thought it would be interesting to write a poem exploring that moment when a designer decides to step into the spotlight and create.

Thanks for reading.

I really like the background. I enjoyed your poetry quickfire today. And I always like randomness. Sometimes with kids and everything, thinking out a paragraph, much less writing it....what was I saying? :)

Good luck with the new phone. I still text the "old-fashioned" way. :) Ha.

I always make a big mess with flour.

I am so glad I finally got to catch up with you. Happy Weekend.

Hey Kel. Thanks for your kind comment on my poem today. I've been working on it all day since I posted it and already scheduled the second draft for tomorrow (so check back...).

Before I read what inspired your quickfire, I pictured an artist's model and the artist drawing her and loved it. Then I re-read it and loved it even more.

I loved hearing your thoughts after I read the poem first. I actually had the image of Leonardo sketching Kate in Titanic... Carribean (okay wrong body of water) made me think water like the ocean and then I flashed to Cruise ship for some reason.

When I first read it, I pictured a woman getting measured for an elegant ball! Kelly, your talent is amazing. Someday, I will hold your book in my hands...

Oh, and I forgot to say I love the new background!

I love how you think of something and then put it into such inspiring words. Thank you!

Step Back

Too much pink.
I must back away.
I cannot come back.
I shrink from pink.

Ugh.

(I enjoyed your poem, especially with the title and explanation. Then I laughed and decided to mockingly comment in poetry to your new blog design. It's all tongue-in-cheek. I have no aversion to pink... but I don't wear any. ;-) )

Don,the-manly-man!
