I've Got The Music In Me

It's great to have The Beatles help me as I clean up the toy explosion in my sons' room.

Sorting the laundry with Mick Jagger may become a regular thing for me.

I can get used to a serenade from Sting while rinsing my dishes.

After months of waiting and hinting, I am happy to report that I have my own MP3 player (the new Sony Walkman). You all know how much I love my music. It's such a treat for me to have the chance to escape with my music as I go about my day. My oldest son showed me all the features of my new gadget. Funny that I have a gadget. Usually hubby is the master of those button happy things :)

As many of you predicted, I'm hooked now. Even making the bed is a musical experience for me. I have to hide it from Jillian sometimes. She doesn't want me listening to music when I should be playing dolls with her. She can be a tough task master when she's in play mode :)

I still have a ton of songs to download from my HUGE CD collection. I have four albums on the player right now. I'm a big Dave Matthews Band fan, so my favorite song to play over and over is "Crush".

As I build up my musical library, I'm curious to know what are some of your favorites. Is there one or two songs that you could listen to over and over again? I would love to know your recommendations. Are you surprised to hear that my son's play list doesn't have any choices for me? However, my son did want a Rolling Stones' song or two from me :) Who's the cool one now? I can see my son's smirk at that comment.

Thanks for sharing your songs with me. I'm excited to hear what "music is in you" :)

I mostly like silence----and listen to it whenever I get the chance :)

An MP3 is a must-have for a music lover like you. Love mine!
Now I love music like you do, so asking for recommendations may require me to restrain myself from writing you a novel in this comment. ;)
For starters may I recommend Death Cab for Cutie? The song Cath is a great intro to the band. And Jimmy Eat World -- maybe start with the Clarity record and specifically the song Can You Still Feel the Butterflies.

I love music too. I love to sing along and hum when I don't know the words. LOVE Dave Matthews. his voice is so distinct. Love Maroon 5 too. Voices that you can pick out amongst them all are great. Like Rascal Flatts. His voice is awesome too.
Enjoy your music.

LOL @ Kaye!

We're huge music fans here (we were both music majors before we started graduate school). So I don't dare take up your entire comment space to make a list of favorites. But I WILL say that we're big DMB fans, too. And lately I'm on a Coldplay kick. I'd seriously be shocked to find out that we have more space on either of our MP3 players. Any time we get a spare $5 we're (especially hubby) downloading more albums -- everything from Bach to U2. :) Gotta love music!!!

This is a tough question. I love Reba; I love Kelly Clarkson. I love the GLEE soundtracks...I'm not helpful

I do not usually play much music around the house. The only time I really listen is in the van with the radio. I usually just keep it on the Christian station so I do not have to listen to crap until I find something good. :) Not much help am I? :)

I love listening to music while doing chores- seems to make it more fun somehow.

I could, for whatever reason, listen to "Hey There Delilah" all day long.

So glad you got your MP3 player for Christmas - definitely the perfect gift for you. We're classical music folks around here. At least when the choice is mine - Carmina Burana seems to always get me motivated. Evenings often bring some Sarah McLaughlin.

Happy listening.

Love Harry Connick Jr as a rule but generally I like songs and not artists. Glad you are enjoying your tunes! :O)

How awesome that you have an mp3 player. I am rarely without my iPod and need a larger one. 8 gigs is not enough! So I'm constantly changing out what I have on my playlist.

I'm totally in "retro" mood right now. Alot of Gin Blossoms, Pearl Jam (though I did buy the new one.. does that make me current?? lol). I also adore Josh Groban, Enigma and Enya when I'm being all creative.

I love Dave Matthews! Under the Table and Dreaming was the first album I bought when I first left home. Oh the memories!

I agree that Rascal Flatts is some good stuff and also really love Ace of Base when I want something fun.

Enjoy all that lovely music. Having an mp3 player is like having a soundtrack for your daily life. So much FUN!

I just recently picked up Shinedown's latest and I found it was a great CD to listen to.

If you want something a little bit more out of left field, Lyle Lovett's latest is a great listen to.

Country as it was meant to be played.

I love all kinds of music. I can go from Nina Simone to Alicia Keys, then over to Mariah Carey. Depends on my mood sometimes.

Enjoy your new toy. :)

I got an MP3 player for Christmas LAST year and we still can't figure out how to get songs on it...my husband or I. So, needless to say I don't have any recommendations from my player:(

Sounds fun though!

My love for music runs deep indeed and my favorites range from opera to gospel to symphonic to country to R&B to jazz to funk! I post music often on my blog. Because I am training for a marathon, I listen to a lot of Gnarls Barkley.

Doesn't it make the housework go faster!!??? I've been copying my CDs to my iPod all day coincidentally.

And my favorite music to listen to over and over and over is by Steely Dan and Michelle Shocked. Cannot get enough of them.

Cool! Congratulations :) Music always put me in a good mood. I hope you enjoy your new toy. Btw, I changed it completely, take a look when you get a chance and tell me what you think.

Do I sound old ?? My kids got me the best of Journey and then there is REO Speedwagon - oh wait Boston I grew up in the 80's and still love to sing and dance to that music in the kitchen and car.

I had forgotten how much I needed music until we remembered that we could play our CDs in the DVD player...(stereo broke when baby, now 20 months, was born) I've been stuck on My Morning Jacket and Monsters of Folk & old Norah Jones.

I love music when I'm at work and am surrounded by noise. but when I'm at home, I sort of like the quiet. That said, I could listen to Pat McCurdy over and over (go visit his website and take a listen... it's better in person, but SO much fun)!

This is horrible, but my son gave me an MP3 player three years ago, and I still haven't figured out how to use it. Sad, huh?! And I am a music lover! All kins (except Grunge and hard wrap). Love Celtic and Blues and Classical and Classic Rock. Lucinda Williams, the Carpenters, John Denver, and on and on.

I am so glad that you got yourself such a neat little gadget! :) I had to laugh at you being the cool. I can remember being FORCED to listen to my parent's music growing up (80's rock)and being so disguisted yet now I LOVE it but they still can't stand mine! HA!
My favorites are just about anything country. I could listen to those "stories" (as my hubby calls them) over and over again. I have to second Jillien on the twilight soundtrack though.

I have that weird sensory issue where I can't get a thing done, even cleaning, if it isn't quiet. We do have the quietest house anywhere! But, I'm glad you like your mp3 player. I love them too because my music loving family can listen and I don't have to:)

Anything by John Mayer or Jack Johnson... very mellow and family friendly!

Welcome to the world of gadgets... glad you're enjoying your MP3 player!

Love DMB! And I was just thinking I'd go find Crush online, but then I scrolled a bit further and you'd already done it for me. Thanks. :)

I drag my feet on new gadgets. I did get a Kindle (sort of by chance), so I suppose and MP3 player wouldn't be a stretch. Although, I do love music, but work better around quiet. Does that make you sad? ;)

"Even making the bed is a musical experience for me."
LOVE that, lol

Although I enjoy music, I need silence. Especially since becoming a mother, when silence is as precious as gold.

Glad that there's another spring to your step.

I love love love my iPod. Gotta have music when I walk, workout or clean the house. I have a very eclectic mix including the Stones, David Bowie, Elton John, Arcade Fire, Muse, Tantric, etc.

Love me some music.

I love anything Andrea Bocheli. I especially like Russel Watson's version of Miserrie. I like to exhaust music until I am forced to prick my ears in another direction; of course after a reasonable duration it is nice to go back with reconcilliation and appreciation. Thank you. Take care. Bye.

Beatles 'Hey Jude', Stones 'Angie', Dylan...I can play 'when he returns' until it wears out as with Damien Rice's 'O', Harvey Andrews 'Soldier', Lionel Ritchie's 'Hello'. 'I'm wondering where the lions are' by...aaaggh, can't remember his name right now. I love contemporary acoustic and I was surprise to see and hear the Dave Matthews band as a duo...I was expecting a huge brass band. They are brilliant. I'm busy putting my stuff on the Mac...the family didn't take the hint with the MP3.

Thanks for introducing me to TDMB.
