Poetry quickfire and a temporary "parole"

Boost

That cold air grabbed my spark
and spun me in its dance
as I shook off my tired
to let a chill elevate
and release the cobwebs
of nine o'clock ordinary.

See what a quick walk on the driveway on a freezing December day can do for me. That's a jump start. Love how the cold air instantly puts me into awake mode. I need that burst these days.

At 1 p.m. today, there will be a very unusual event happening in my home. My husband and I will leave the premises (without the children who will happily be with Grandma) to go on an actual (drum roll) date! We haven't gone on a date in 5 years. I know, we let too much time go by. We're going to see Sherlock Holmes this afternoon. I'm looking forward to see Robert Downey, Jr.'s spin on this iconic character. I'll give a little movie and date review for you tomorrow :)

I wonder if I will jump every time I hear a kid call "Mommy". I'm not used to being without some kid pulling on me or whining for something :) I'll just have hubby asking for more popcorn. Hopefully, he won't fall asleep in the movie like he does at home when we watch one:) I hope there is enough action to keep him interested in the story line. We'll see. I'll just be glad to be stress free and relaxing for 2 hours or so.

I hope that YOU can be okay without them for a few hours! Ha! BTW, I really liked your poem. Nothing like a smack in the face with frigid air to wake you right up!

Cold air makes me do the exact opposite, I run for my bed and pull the covers up over my head! Ha, you liked that little rhyme right?! HA!

I hope you and your hubby have a wonderful date! I think it will be a great movie! If not, you can always count on movie popcorn to be worth it! HAVE FUN!

Happy Date Day! Girlfriend, you need to get out more! You had me seriously thinking of a trip to your state just so I could babysit!

Your poem is really good. It hit home because the other night my husband and I were walking out of Walmart and the frigid air took our breath away for a moment. I said to him,"Sometimes doesn't that shock of frigid air feel refreshing?" "Um, nope," he answered. Maybe if I could have explained it like your poem he would have known what I meant.

Lovely poem, Kelly. I love these! They all breathe no matter the topic. Have fun on your date. It is so important to have time with just the two of you. Enjoy, my friend. You both deserve it.

Great poem! Our driveway is steep and icy, so all I think when I get back in the house is, "Thank God I made it."

Husband and I went away on a trip recently. Looooooved it. I have a feeling you're going to want more dates and soon.

Whoo! Yay for the date. Although I have to admit that it somewhat cracks me up that you're going at 1pm. I do want to know what you think of the movie, especially since it definitely has love story components to it, and no Sherlock I've ever known has had any interest in women whatsoever. I hope you had a great time!

Love the poem! Glad the air woke you up and fired you up at the same time!

And I love love love that you are going on a date!!!!!!! I'm sure it is just amazing to be out and about without kids! ENJOY! I'll be back to hear how the movie was!

Very different, love it! Sometimes a good blast of cold air is better than coffee...ok maybe not but it certainly clears the head.
