A poem about owning the right opportunity and pushing forward

Here's a poem where I wonder about that ultimate self push needed to succeed with the right opportunity. Once that opportunity knocks, I have to be ready to jump fully into it. To open the door, I may have to push through a ton of laundry and 2,000 matchbox cars :) I'll find space in my life for that chance. Now I just need to hear the knock...

Accelerate

If I could dance on the crest of waves,
propelled through life with furious force,
would I self present empowered,
or would I sink through fathoms.

If I could swing for balance on tops of trees,
bathed in primal light with rejuvenated pulse,
would I self assemble energized,
or would I slip through the stripped bark.

Thanks everyone for all your kind comments yesterday. I'm back on my Mama rock today and holding down the fort with confidence :) All the kids are home (plus my nephew) so the volume level is off the charts at my house today! Happy Wednesday!!

I'm totally impressed that you are still able to pull together an eloquent poem even with high volume decibels in the house.

Septembermom...so elegant! You speak for all of us here today. I think we all question the fact that if by chance we were presented with the opportunity of a lifetime...could we live up to the task? In my opinion...that is not a bad thing...It helps keep us humble. Beautiful poetry and one that I have marked to save.

This poem is sweet and simply beautiful, Kelly. It "accelerates" from the opening to the ending. Wonderful imagery. Beautiful!

Beautiful! I have no doubt you would "self present empowered," and "self assemble" absolutely, 100% energized!

Powerful, beautiful and very inspiring. Life is what you make it, that's what I got from your poem today. Funny, but this morning Gilbert and George, our dogs, Colin and I went on our moring walk and instead of the usual one and a half hours we walked, without stopping for nearly three hours. We spoke, at length about our future and how we spend our time. It was very much inspired by the loss of my friend. A few tears were shed, by the both of us and we returned home very much the better for it. And then I read your poem. Funny how these things come to us when we most need them. Thanks for that and for the love you left me on my blog today:)

Seize the moment, you'll know when it's right. Mold it and make it your own. I love the forcefulness of this poem. The command to take charge of life, not letting it take charge of you. When you have this mindset you are ensured to fly high :) Sink or 'Accelerate', love the title.

An incredible poem you have written here Kelly! God will let you know when the time is right, He's really good like that!

I hope things quiet down at your house in time for a good night's sleep!

God bless!

Very sophisticated ... well done, my friend. And I think opportunity will knock for you -- and will wait for the Matchbox cars to be shoved aside!

I think I'm going crazy! :O I thought I'd left a comment about this poem, but it seems to have disappeared into cyberspace.

Loved the imagery - in particular the phrase "dance on the crest of waves"! You're always so unafraid of making yourself vulnerable in your writing by exposing your deepest feelings. Something I need to learn to do!

Glad to hear that life has improved for you. :)
