A day at the park

Since April is National Poetry Month, here is my poem celebrating all those smiling faces at the park on beautiful spring days.

Play

Shades of sunflowers
color through corkscrew slide
as sneaker climbers rush
to tackle playground peak.

Flying ponytails and crooked caps
zoom past mama's eyes
as ball chasers zigzag
to get that last kick.

Pendulum swings creak
away with stretched legs
as flying adventurers
soar through a blue horizon.

Sitting on a bench at a playground brings you right back to those childhood days filled with laughter and fun. Though I have to admit, I don't get the chance to sit too often because I have to watch my playground acrobats closely. Band-aids in hand, even I go down the twisty slide sometimes. The kids would love it if I got stuck in the slide! That would be a sight for those parents on the bench.

Nice poem here ... I like the visual of the swings, there's something so timeless about that, bringing me back to sweet summer days.

I also liked the creaking pendulum swing image. Very nice. A very colorful poem. And I thought your paragraph after the verse was incredibly poetic too!

Awesome poem. Made me think about the times ahead with my little man....band aids in hand for sure as he starts playing. Great start to the challenge.

I definitely feeling like I at the part - flying ponytails and spinning caps. The park is so much more fun with a little one (I love going down the slide!)

Every time you write a poem, I can visualize what is happening! This was a poem that brought a smile to my face and brings back memories of my "little guy" in the playground.

Did you write this about the playground at PPP? I hadn't gotten inspired by that one yet, but then again, it helps to open up the comments and read what others wrote. Great poem...you've inspired me to try. :) haha and I loved the comment about getting stuck... that would definitely be a sight to see! :)

Yes, do not go into those McDonald's indoor slides-I almost got stuck once. Very uncomfortable.

Lovely poem, felt like I was there!

Poem was good but the vision of a parent stuck in the slide while you hear a firetruck siron in the background rushing to save you was better!!! HEHEHE.. SORRY!
