K is for Knowing Me, Knowing You

Here's the scene. Ponytails, ring dings, flowery pajamas, small apartment bedroom with Shaun Cassidy on the wall. It's 1980 and my sister and I are doing our famous ABBA performance for my giggling little brother. Karaoke at its finest. No worries about what I looked like or who heard me. We loved playing this 45 on our little Donny and Marie phonograph. (My oldest son just commented, "Wow, you're old, Mom.) Anyone else want to admit that this is a fun song?

Also, here's one more fun "K" reference that comes to my mind right now. When I was 21 (now there's a song title), my 18 month old nephew couldn't say "Kelly" so he called me "Kiki." One day, he came to my job and announced to the whole place, "She's Kinky!" I was a lovely shade of scarlet at that moment.

Remember to visit more A to Z challenge participants today. See you all soon :)

Kids are priceless
My kid announced, when she was about 5 that I was psycho.
She meant psychic, I always told her I was and that's how I always knew what she was doing.

Oh wow - I would have love to seen you in the 80s - that sounds like a really fun time.

So, are you still Kiki? My nephew used to call me "Ootat" because everyone would always point to me and say, "Whose's that?" I told him it would be a very sad day when he stopped calling me that. He'll be 13 next month and I'm still Ootat.

It's so funny because I would always say I didn't like ABBA but then every time one of their songs comes on, I can't help singing along. Even as I type I'm singing along. I guess I just have to finally say that I LOVE ABBA. So there, Kiki! :) (Couldn't resist!)

I was changing diapers and pregnant again in 1980, listening to this song. Now my granddaughters know the words to most of the 'Mamma Mia' movie songs.
Good post! and you are not old. OK!

awww you gotta love kids lol.
my niece lacey when she was younger, loved jackie chan movies, the only problem was that when we were out and she saw someone who looked vaguely family she would get all excited and start yelling look look its jackie chan.
which could be a bit embarrassing lol

Knowing me, knowing you is currently my favorite Abba song! The poetry in the lyrics resonates with my mind and I always take a moment to reflect why each word was chosen specifically. Awesome K post, and it's a pleasure to meet you via the A-Z Challenge!

Thanks for the memories! I'll admit that I know this song, and probably sang it with my sister, too. ;)

Great song and I love that image of you singing this to the record. My sister used to have a record player that lit up when you sang along. We listened to alot of Kenny Rogers, Air supply and KISS believe it or not. And I have to admit, I still LOVE Air Supply.
