Flash Fiction Quickfire

James Abbott Whistler - "Caprice in Purple and Gold No. 2 The Golden Screen

Here is my flash fiction (55 words) inspired by this Whistler painting.

Hours poured over two untested lives as the feared reality slowly took hold. Clutching silent Akina with urgency and fire, the painter's heart broke away. “I must follow my Master and become more of what I am.” As the morning broke, a numb Akina abandoned herself to his forgotten paintings, hoping to feel him again.

Thank you for reading :) I guess I'm a romantic through and through. Happy Friday!

Oh gosh, so poignant and full of yearning. Had me swallowing a lump! You are very good at imbuing your writing with a genuine sense of unfulfilled longing, Kelly!
