Sunday Citar

Johannes Vermeer

The painter's vision is not a lens, it trembles to caress the light.
Robert Lowell

Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks.
Plutarch

If the world could remain within a frame like a painting on the wall, I think we'd see the beauty then and stand staring in awe.
Conor Oberst

Oh Kelly! Such beautiful quotes. To me the third one by Oberst is particularly true. Can you imagine? We would stand staring in awe. Thank you for making my Sunday even better! :)

Stunning painting. I too, love the third quote. It reminds me to slow down and "smell the roses" so to speak. We revere so many paintings, and it's because they capture for us a moment frozen in time.

I've always loved this picture. I think it's in one of the Smithsonians in D.C.? I've seen it in person recently, I'm pretty sure.

But I could be crazy!
