Spark your Creativity with Pictures, Poetry & Prose

One of the first blogs that I discovered was Pictures, Poetry & Prose. The creative and inspiring Laura Jayne would provide amazing pictures and paintings to stir a writer or poet to share their creativity. Laura Jayne needs to take a hiatus from her blog for awhile. As a tribute to this wonderful blog, my talented friend Dani, over at Dani's Daily Drop, suggested that we should share some writing inspired by a prompt over at PP&P. Here is the prompt that sparked my imagination for the following piece. It is a picture of a solitary figure looking out a window.

Push my sight
through the horizon.
Grab hold of my thoughts
and take off to nowhere.
Exit the rational
to celebrate the emotion.
Accept the company
within your own soul.

Here's another one that I posted for this prompt with a picture of a dark path:

Fearful eyes wonder
if that cloud of doubt
will follow each step.

A darkness can engulf
the distressed soul
with quicksand speed.

Grab your inner torch
for the faintest light
will cut through despair.

I hope to look through past prompts to find more and more subjects for my poetry. I'm always on the hunt for inspiration! I love how Laura Jayne's prompts gave me the opportunity to stretch my creativity and thinking in new directions. Often, I would just have a stream of consciousness kind of initial reaction. It would always be interesting to see where my mind would roam. Treat yourself to a visit to Pictures, Poetry & Prose. Look through her past posts and you may find just the right inspiration to jump start your writing!

I wrote Laura Jane a thank you. One of the nicest things I got from her blog was many of my blogging friends. She created a community.

Perhaps like the Terminator... she'll be back!

These poems are beautiful, Kelly. The first one is particularly poignant for me. I adore the opening. "Push my sight through the horizon." What a beautiful line this is and how wholly it ends. "Accept the company within your own soul." Both poems move me. Thank you, friend.

Both of these selections you chose really spoke to me especially with what's going on in my life. It's so difficult sometimes to find that inner torch. It is very much like quicksand how you can let your negative thoughts take over. So perceptive both of these pieces.
