Fun and Games with Jenners

It's Fun and Games time with the always creative Jenners over at Life With A Little One and More. For this game, Jenners asked us to stretch our imaginations to make our own version of this memorable William Carlos Williams' poem:

"This Is Just To Say"

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving for
breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

Here is my version of a poem about this potentially devastating event in my household:

I have misplaced
the remote
that sits by
your recliner

and which
you will probably
consider divorce
from your Lucy Ricardo

Forgive me
the magic clicker
will resurface
and harmony return

I think I should chain the remote to hubby's chair. If it disappears before he gets home, the kids and I drop everything and search everywhere (like the guys on CSI). Hubby and his remote are happy amigos. Hubby without remote is not the most pleasant fellow :)

Jump over to Jenners' fabulous blog to join in this "poetic" fun!

I love it. You captured it well. And for Christmas? Buy him the infrared thing that beeps when you're looking for something. You attach the tracker to the flipper, and as long as you can keep the tracker in the junk drawer or somewhere you can find it, you're set. Ah, who am I kidding? ;)

Too funny. Great job on that one. My hubs takes it to the bathroom with him. LOL

Very funny, loved your version. We get possessive over food here at our house. Who ate my yogurt? Where's my lunch apple? I don't know why, but my family's very territorial with food ...

That was great. I woke up in the middle of the night Saturday. I turned on the TV to get back to sleep. The remote died and I was stuck on an informercial about hair care ugh...I got up to find batteries in the middle of the night instead of just going back to sleep. The remote has way too much power at my house. LOL

Oh that is playing with danger ... a man and his remote shall not be separated! I love it! I love that everyone scrambles madly to find it before Dad gets home! : )

Thanks for playing!

Oh my goodness! I could have written that poem about the exact behavior in my home!!! Too funny!

HA! That is so funny! We are always losing are remote around here too. However, the hubs can find it for himself. Nine times out of ten he took off with it to another room and left it in there anyway!

That is hysterical. I often find my remote under the couch cushions--weird, really, considering I'm the only human in the household.

Love it! That's one of those poems J and I spoof on a weekly basis here, too :)

What is it with men and their remotes - my husband panics if he can't find his... and drives me crazy because he still can't figure it out -

Great post!
Love to you,
Kelly

You chose one of my favorite poems, and your rendition is well done. (I'd add a comma... Lucy, Ricardo) or perhaps I'm reading it wrong.

Nope...no punctuation...

How about...

Forgive me Ricardo

(moving the name lessens confusion?)

then again, reading it as you had it
I knew where
to pause.

LoL, loved it! I think this is a man thing ;) It's good to stretch the mind and have fun experimenting.

The words you wrote
were perfect
I spoke too soon

In the shower
I remembered
Lucy is a Ricardo

Forgive me
the only Ricardo
I recalled was Ricky

Then I remembered
Lucy
and my face
resembles plums

(oops)But I left my first comment... evidence of my (duh)

MEN . . so alike. My hubby drives me mad surfing between commercials. I grit my teeth but sometimes give in to the temptation to rip the thing out of his hand. Sometimes I awake during the night and there he is, hand clasped tightly around the remote . . love him!!!

its perfect!

Great job with Jenner's game. Both are great versions, but the second is too funny!

Thanks for your visit to Family Fountain and nice comment on "Woe is Me."

Good job with the poem! I am not allowed to touch the remote in our house, so I don't misplace it. :)
