The Zombie is Awake and Active

Thanks everyone for your kind comments yesterday. I'm still trying to sort out fact from fiction regarding how Joe's teacher handles the kids each day. I will have a class mom meeting with the teacher next week. Hopefully, I'll have a clearer picture of what's going on in the classroom by then. Joe seems better today so maybe he's starting to adjust to this structured kind of classroom. Another mom did send me an email this morning and she wrote: "Kelly, I have to tell you about something I heard about the teacher." The drama continues. I'll keep you all posted.

I guess it is fitting that I call myself "Septembermom" since September seems to be my busiest and craziest month of the school year. It's like a jungle gym here now with my 4 year old daughter and 3 year old nephew charging through the rooms. Guess what I feel like today? Here's a song to give you a clue. I can still remember being 22 and listening to this song on the train as I headed off to work in NYC. Now 19 years later (yikes!), I really know all about feeling like a mommy zombie!

Uh oh! I think my jungle gym acrobats are off to the bathroom. Who knows what flood awaits me? Better run :)

Oh the joys of being 4. My son thinks everything is a jungle gym too. He loves to climb and get into everything.
Never heard that song before. Hmmm

I hope you get to the bottom of the teacher situation. Perhaps she is new to that age group?

For some reason, kids think that the bathroom is the funnest place to play. HAHA

Hope every thing works out with your teacher situation.

Good luck... I do wonder if anyone's talked to the principal yet. Sadly, that's your next step if you can't resolve it with her. I will say that if it doesn't get better, don't wait all year -- I've had a few friends really regret that they waited too long to try to resolve it. But hopefully it's all nothing and just adjustment :) Enjoy that zombie life. Why IS your nephew with you, too?

I used to LOVE the Cranberries. It reminds me of my university days. I used to wish I was Deloris. Great great song reference.

It never stops for you my friend but I fear you would be bored if your life wasn't so full and busy. Please keep us up-to-date on joe's classroom.

I don't know, Kelly, but I wouldn't believe everything I hear. While "in the multitude of counsel there is safely," it also depends on who is counseling. I assume some moms, as so many others, could probably talk less. I also assume that there could be a mommy club that could not all be so productive or positive. You are an aware mom without the drama; this I have come to believe through reading this blog. I appreciate your voice.

I read yesterday's post and I don't like this first grade teacher! I think it's okay to have structure, but you hope that this teacher can be flexible. I hope your meeting with her goes well.

Moe had a second grade teacher that was awful! She was tenure, so it was hard to get rid of her despite years of complaints from parent. She was the type of teacher if she liked a student, she went out of her way to make their experience great. If you werent....thankfully Moe was her FAVORITE student. But, it made me feel bad for the other kids, she didn't like. And though she treated Moe well, I still complained to the principal of her behavior towards the other kids and nothing happened. (sorry for the long comment!)
