Sunday Citar - Novelists

Vincent van Gogh

For today's Sunday Citar with Fresh Mommy, I found these quotes from famous novelists:

A voice is a human gift; it should be cherished and used, to utter fully human speech as possible. Powerlessness and silence go together. - Margaret Atwood

All humanity is passion; without passion, religion, history, novels, art would be ineffectual. - Honore de Balzac

Everything I've ever done, in the writing world, has been to expand articulation, rather than to close it. - Toni Morrison

Writing is like getting married. One should never commit oneself until one is amazed at one's luck. - Iris Murdoch

What do we live for, if not to make life less difficult for each other? - George Eliot

The van Gogh painting may not necessarily work for all these quotes, but I wanted to post this lovely picture anyway :)

Happy Sunday everyone!

To me the painting is a very nice touch. It goes along with the mood of the quotes. I loved every single one of them. They all express sincerity and passion for not just writing in and of itself but the art of humanity. Have a beautiful Sunday :)

Lovely quotes. I've read quite a few of Margaret Atwood's books and liked most of them. My daughter on the other hand started reading her works when she was 12 and is a true fan. I believe she has read everything she has published. Thanks for stopping over to my blog.

I have read the letters of Van Gogh as well as a number of biographies which speak about the brilliance and passion of this dear soul. Thank you for the whole of the post, my sister, my friend.

I love the painting so I'm glad you posted it. I really like the Toni Morrison and Iris Murdoch quotes about writing. I think about writing all the time both doing it and the art of writing. I wish I was more dedicated to it.
