Tot Talk Tuesdays - Our little dance

Niecey, over at The Monkeys and Me, hosts "Tot Talk Tuesdays". If you would like to join in the fun, click on the image above and let's see what all the tots have to say :)

Jillian can tell you all about Mommy's favorite songs. Certain songs make a lasting impression on me. Often, I'll fold laundry or organize something while listening to music in my bedroom. One song in particular has become a special break time for me and Jillian.

Whenever my daughter hears the beginning of "Iris", she will run in and say, "Mommy, let's dance like butterflies." We have a grand time together as she teaches me how to flutter like a butterfly during our dance. These are moments of joy that I will always remember.

Since my daughter is a firm believer that "only girls can be butterflies", my poor sons are sent to the sidelines to be our audience for this dance performance. I know that Daddy doesn't want his sons to be "butterflies" anyway. Maybe Hubby would agree to manly moths!!

Once I publish this post, I'll play the song and I'm sure she'll be surprised to see that our dancing song is on the laptop too!

Love that song! My son would be very disappointed to hear he cannot be a butterfly! But then, he was being a penguin this morning so maybe he wouldn't be too upset!

Oh, a great choice! I love the Goo-Goo Dolls. Your daughter has great taste. LOL at your boys sitting on the sidelines. :-) Right now, my daughter Vivian and I dance to "Furry, Happy Monsters" which is the Sesame Street version of R.E.M.'s "Shiny, Happy People." She loves the playful lyrics and the fun jumping around the artist does while singing it. You're so right about songs giving you a break or sending you into a far-away place. Just this morning while driving to work, I heard Stevie Nicks singing "Landslide" and I had goosebumps as I remembered a different point in my life. I love, love love how music can take you to a memory and special place!

How adorable! I often wonder what it would be like to have a little girl... These are things I imagine. :) My little boy DOES love music though! He jumps and stomps and turns. Pretty cute!

What sweet memories you'll both have, dancing like butterflies together to songs you love. Music will evoke wonderful feelings for your daughter throughout her life.

What a perfect butterfly song. My boys aren't allowed to be butterflies here either. As my 3 year old would say, "That's just for girlies."

This song makes me cry my head off. I love it. (I always think of my daughter, in Heaven). What sweet memories you'll have one day, when they're all grown and married off, and you hear this song and remember all the butterfly dances.

This was so special. I really appreciate the pictures that you paint with your words. I wonder what you are seeing as this dance is taking place.

You mentioned your father and wanting to visit with him in dreams. I've had the same feeling for a very long while. It's only recently that he's begun visiting. My Mother passed away eleven weeks ago this coming Thursday. She was vivid in my dreams for a few weeks but is not so vivid now. He is suddenly very much with me. We are having lovely visits. It's bizarre and very nice to have these memories resurface after so long. I imagine it's a way of dealing with grief. It is welcome and a comfort.

Also, I'm curious about the subplots you mentioned. Seems like you are writing even in your sleep.

Oh what a great song - so glad you shared what it is, as ummm I didn't know it until I started listening. I am trying to figure out the butterfly thing, and I think you need to show us a video of THAT!
