Friday High Five

Time to bring out the old yoga mat and "strike a pose".

FIVE CONCERNS IN MY MIND
AS I THINK ABOUT DOING YOGA AGAIN
  1. Will these dusty yoga tapes still work in my old VCR? I know, it's sad that they are VHS.

  2. Inhale now? Exhale when? I hope I don't screw up my breathing when I'm trying not to fall on my face.

  3. Do I want an amused, possibly heckling audience during the workout? I need to build my own Mommy sanctuary so I can get into my yoga zone. I can already hear the kids calling for me when I'm twisted into a pretzel kind of move.

  4. Yoga pants or shorts? What fits? What is comfortable? I also want to find pants with a drawstring. I don't need my old yoga pants falling off during a stretch :)

  5. Will I be distracted by my own laughter when I hear the instructor's name? It's Mr. Finger. You can imagine my husband's comments.

This was so funny! Thanks for sharing it. My kids just groan when I try to exercise -- they laugh and say, "Mom, just stop. You're gonna get hurt!"

Mr. Finger? Seriously? LOL! Please don't tell me he wears puppets on his fingers and tells stories as he tells you to strike a pose too. That would be too much!

I still have a few VHS workout tapes that I love too. I've looked for the DVD version but some of them don't exist. Kudos to you for doing yoga. I've tried it twice and just couldn't get into it. I'm more of a "shake your booty" while you workout kind of gal. I'm hoping to start back into Zumba or Jazzercise real soon!

Good luck to you in finding your sanctuary. I do believe that's important! Before you know it your kids' mister fingers are poking under the bathroom door and you can't even pee in peace! I hope you are able to clear your mind and stretch your body in the way that works best for you.

LOL...so glad I headed over here after posting today. This is GREAT! I'm just now starting to do Yoga. My husband has been doing it for a couple years and BEGGING me to do it. Now, if my instructor were Mr. Finger I'd be laughing my yoga pants off, too!!! These are GREAT!

I'm still staring at the yoga dvd. At some point I will have to put it in the player and push the "on" button, right? Maybe I can just sit funny and continue looking at it...

(Good to see another Friday High Fiver. Angela seems to be a bit spotty of late with her posts.)

You omitted the true internet way to handle the issues. You need to do your yoga on camera and post it to YouTube. Perhaps titling it "Me and Mr. Finger." That seems to be what every one else does with no visible embarrassment. Just picture it - a panting lady wearing an obviously uncomfortable outfit trying to do everything Mr. Finger says as she falls over. It has million view hit written all over it. {*grin*}

I'm sorry I just can't keep a straight face with #5...Mr. Finger?? I won't go there but I do like No. 3 "Mommy Sanctuary". I think we all need one.

My fear is that I'll get stuck in some pretzel position and have to call the fire department to come unravel me.

Have fun working out with Mr. Finger. Nice!
I'm debating a home workout regimen. I'll see how yours goes first. :)

Mr Finger? That's a good one! I'm impressed you are doing this!

I have always wanted to try yoga but have always been way to self conscious to take a class and way too lazy to do it at home. Let me know how it goes!! And LMBO at Mr. Finger. I wonder what nationality he is. ???

Go for it! My daughter's two year old turned out to be a fun exercise companion. As a mom you know that optimal surroundings are a myth. Go for it. Enjoy. Laugh. Find the "flow" running in your own lane.

Sadly, the VCR tapes I have still work in my VCR. Why bother to replace them? And umm I go for hte shorts because I get too hot in the pants... BUT the breathing in or out doesn't matter, so long as you ARE breathing! Yay to yoga. I love it :)

Nice, Kelly, and funny too! I have practiced yoga for years, but have done so less as of late. This reminds me what a wonderful practice it is. Thanks for that.

Loved this.
Yoga's great, my son used to join in as well. Although I don't practise it anymore there are one or two exercises I do that cure some minor ailments.

Hey Septembermom,

That is really funny. Hope you get back into yoga. I did a bit of yoga today which was cool. If you get that channel Fit Tv, they have this show called Namaste Yoga which is pretty cool and no one is called "Mr. Finger" lol.

Mr. Finger!! What a name!

They say that breathing correctly during exercises with help lose weight. It can frustrating trying to coordinate breathing and exercise moves. So I just do the best I can and hope something works:)

Ha! That is funny!

I have been wanting to try Yoga for as long as I can remember but I never find the time to do so. Hope you have better luck with it than myself!

You are cracking me up. I can't believe the the name of the instructor is Mr. Finger. That is just too funny. And I think yoga is best done without an audience. I shudder to think what I actually look like when doing yoga -- in my mind, I'm much more graceful than I am in reality. But kudos to you for getting out the dusty VHS yoga tapes -- hey -- at least it isn't Betamax!
